Apparently, some are even slower on the uptake than I am.

It's a joke, folks.  Sarcasm.  Satire, even.

Obviously, pretty convincing; he had me going at first.

Eyas,

I think you might be right. My jaw hit the floor when I read his last post, and I thought how could anyone be so clueless. Then I realized it. His cluelessness is too over the top. At least, I hope this is the case.

Okay, Now paleocon. You seem to be the most worked up of of all, but i can assure you John McCain is more Conservative than you think.

paleocon wrote:
Wow, this is a sure-fire way to win over disgruntled conservatives.  Label us "Talk Radio Types" and imply that we are mindless drones following Rush.  Way to go!  You are either Tom Davis (R-VA) or the only person in the party stupider than Tom.  Congratulations on losing any chance of winning us over in your first sentence.  Well done!

I Don't think you are a mindless drone, but i do think Rush, Sean and Glenn are very far right, and have gotten you Talk Radio Listeners very worked up about problems that are much smaller than you think. You have to Compromise sometimes, you have to allow a few minor issues to pass and look at John McCain's Conservative stances, like Health Care. He is more Conservative than Barack Obama. The fact is, John McCain was tortured by the North Vietnamese menace, and he is a conservative.

Tom Davis, in my opionion is an Excellent Moderate Conservative, and loyal to the Republican Party.
paleocon wrote:By the way, we are not terribly concerned about "undocumented Americans."  It is all the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS who are NOT Americans that get us riled up.  And you have to be ignorant to call McCain-Feingold "campaign finance reform."  Look at the money the Dems are raking in and tell me that McCain-Feingold did anything to reform campaign finance.  The only thing it did was to step on my right to exercise political speech during an election campaign.  Ironically, McCain-Feingold may cost McCain the election because the only campaign it is affecting seems to be John's.  He has so far been out-raised by the Dems by 5 1/2 to 1.
I think you may be confused about some terms. "Illeagal" is a very harsh term to use, and it could cost us some Hispanic votes. Bush won 44% of the Hispanic vote and the Hispanics are very important to our party. We should be a more diverse party, then the Democrats would not be able to play that stupid annoying card constantly. Its just a little term, and the fact is, John McCain understands its the Borders first, and is a Moderate Conservative on that issue.

I know, I understand, that you are all very annoyed about The McCain Feingold Act. But official studies prove it worked well. No more soft money shows John McCain's Commitment to clean Politics, and that is important even if it costs him the Election. John McCain Always sticks to his Guns, and never backs down, like he did when the North Vieitnamese tried to interrogate him. He gave them no info, and stuck to his principles and his country.
paleocon wrote:Yes, McCain has only offended conservatives over some minor issues like the first amendment, national security at the border, economic growth (tax cuts, MMGW, and Marxist statements about "unfettered capitalism").  Yes, the problem seems to be one of understanding.  We understand the constitution and John McCain does not.

Marxist? this is getting very extreme. Not even the Deomcrats support that, I think you would agree. John McCain was a STRONG anti communist. He fought the Communitst in North Vietnam!! How could he be a communist? John McCain is a Moderate Conservative who is fully comitted to business growth. This is what i was talking about. Rush, Seanh, and Glenn are getting very extreme about a few little issues and making you Talk Radio folks mad. Its annoying, and it could cost us some votes.

Also, like Rudolph Giuliani, John McCain is for Strict Constructionist Judges. In all courts. He opposes Liberal Judges who Legislate at the Bench. He helped get John Roberts and Samuel Alito be confirmed. He also Voted for Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia. All comitted conservatives who voted for conservative issues. No abortion in a McCain adminisstration! What do you think of that! Can you vote for him now?
paleocon wrote:In the words of Ronald Reagan, "there  you go again."  "Talk Radio Folks."  Mind if we refer to you as "RINO, Socialist Sellout Folks?"  You spend your time insulting us and then belatedly realize you sort of need us to actually win.  Maybe you should have thought of that in 2006 when your sellout cost you the majority in both houses of Congress.

The 2006 loss was because of money problems, and Karl Rove's bad strategy. He was too Far Right, in my opinion. We didnt sell out, and we are not "Socialist sellouts" John McCain supports a capialist health care plan and is a Moderate Conservative when it comes to the market. He is approprately skeptical of Greedy CEO's and will Regulate CEO pay.
paleocon wrote:Ronald Reagan won and implemented HIS policies of limiting government and opposing evil.  There was no compromise involved in the defeat of the Soviet Union.  He set out to destroy a horrible and evil system and he did so in less than 9 years.  He was routinely reviled for even trying until it worked.  Excuse me, but that isn't called "compromise."  It is called "leadership" or "doing the right thing."  You as "RINO, Socialist Sellout Folk" evidently don't recognize either of those things.

And allow me to make one last point.  The GOP is obviously no longer the Gipper's party.  He left the Democrats when they sold out.  I have no doubt at all that Reagan would have left the GOP by this point for selling out.  Go peddle your tripe elsewhere.

Oh, you need to step back and look at the facts. Now, i know you Far-Righters are angry about some issues that are very minor, but the fact is John McCain is a Moderate Conservative.  Look, you cant get your way  all the time, everyone is liberal on one or two little issues, right? why dont you just look past the Immigration thing, and the Campaign Finance Compromise? And Ronald Reagan compromised with the Soviet Union, and negotiatedwith them! Thats how he won! He made deals and worked over Gorbechev!

And thats why YOU should compromise and vote for John McCain in 2008! Lets win one for the Gipper!!!

Yes, I must concur.  We have obviously fallen for his satire.  No rational person could say

“The fact is, John McCain is a war hero with integrety, and he would never throw loyal Republicans under the bus”

or

“John McCain has never stuck his finger in the eyes of conservatives. And i think, even Barack Obama opposes socialism. None of our candidates support Socialism. You should have more respect for the Opposition and avoid Personal Attacks like that”

in the same post and not collapse in fits of laughter.  I mean I can hardly cut and paste such foolishness without laughing myself right out of my chair.

I mean that line about Barack opposing Socialism tipped me off right there.  This is satire or hyperbole at the very least.  Good one!  You had me going for your first post.  I actually thought you were serious.

Oh, dear!  Eyas!  Bedbug! Are you actually "extreme, over the top right wingers?"  Don't tell me I have stumbled into the very pit of the vast right wing conspiracy!  Gads, what am I to do?  I had better pull out my Rush Limbaugh secret decoder ring and see if ElRushbo has issued any new commands to his vast legion of drones.  I am lost without instructions from Elrushbo!

If he isn't just pulling a prank, then he is exactly what is wrong with the Republican Party.   RINOs and socialists are blind to reality and trying to COMPROMISE conservatives right out of the party but not until after they've voted for McCain.
We've got to do a better job of getting across that America is freedom--freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of enterprise. And freedom is special and rare. It's fragile; it needs protection.

Wait!  Does this mean we are NOT going to get together on Labor Day, next May 1st, and enjoy tofu kebabs grilled over a hydro-powered, smokeless grill and sit around in front of our Rainbow colored tents while our proletarian banners snap in the breeze (at a height guaranteed not to harm migrating waterfowl) while holding hands, singing Kumbaya and thanking President Ahmadinejad for restoring peace in Iraq?  Just checking.

Your logic is so twisted and internally self-contradictory and your grasp of history and recent events so factually wrong that your post makes my head spin.  Your post must be the largest collection of purblind inanities I have read on this site in weeks.  You can assure me all you want but your assurances are absolutely meaningless.  John McCain and his actions in the US Senate over the past 8 years have demonstrated he is not nearly as conservative as you maintain.

You are right when you suspect that John McCain's socialist principles will cost him a few votes.  And if you think my calling "Illegals" illegal is harsh I suggest you pack it in right now because if you keep up this drivel I will unequivocally demonstrate "harsh" for you.

You may think free enterprise and a few small passages or amendments to the Constitution are "minor issues" but I assure you few people here share your "moderate" views.  And frankly, you seem to lack completely any understanding of Marxism for, if you did, you would instantly recognize that Obama is a Marxist and that John McCain is advocating socialist, anti-capitalist, and more unconstitutional government intrusions into the US economy.

If Tom Davis is your model of virtue for Republicans then you are staring across a chasm so vast that you cannot perceive the distance between our respective positions.  Tom Davis is a political whore who has sold out the nation and the party for his personal benefit.  If you expect me to compromise my principles to elect people like John McCain and Tom Davis then you obviously don't understand the meaning of the word "principle."

If you think you can influence my vote by poorly regurgitating large passages of badly written, factually challenged material from the McCain campaign website and GOP talking points you are oblivious to reality.  Furthermore you have evidently completely underestimated the depth of the ill will John McCain has engendered between himself and true conservatives in the party.

Your problem is that I do understand John McCain.  I have watched him weaken the nation and the party for eight years.  I have listened to him mumble, babble and lie and I am not going to be lied to any longer.  Compromising with liars who have sold out their party and nation for whatever reason is not a "compromise" I am willing to make.

And for goodness sake, learn to spell or at least use your spellchecker.
He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire.
