We will vote for McCAin over Clintorn for sure. Obama is more difficult, but i am biased because i have liked McCain since i was in 2000 (i was in high school, but my old man was very active and kept me informed). But leave no doubt, if the social conservatives choose the better of the two, us Pragmatists (you know those people: doctors and lawyers and such that subscribe to The Economist) will vote and get out friends and family to vote for McCain....

Two things jump off the page at me here. First, I am college educated and have never considered myself "a bit 'liberal.'" This is strictly my interpretation, but this statement, this whole post as a matter of fact, strikes me as elitist. Second, not voting for Obama is a difficult choice? Hmmmm? Let's see.
Higher capital gains tax
Punitive corporate taxes
Fairness Doctrine
Even more liberal judicial appointments (Next year 7 of 9 Supreme Court justices will be 70+)
A nuclear Iran???
Conversation with Ahmadinejad? (29 years ago Ahmadinejad was IRG, the thugs who invaded our embassy)
A full embrasure of the climate change hoax, and all the economic and personal liberties damage that entails

I can see where one may be tempted to vote for Obama, the most liberal U.S. Senator. Yeah, I can go with that.
We soooooooo need a sarcasm key.

Now to answer the question put forth by this thread. No conservatives owe Senator McCain no loyalty. Because he has shown and continues to show none to conservatives. Loyalty is a two-way street. Blind obedience does not constitute loyalty. McCain is retired Navy, he should know this. There are no free lunches. If McCain wants my vote, I damn well expect something in return---conservative leadership. Not liberal pandering so the NY Times will glorify him.

I was never going to come back to this place because it seemed to me just another place to call people names.  But i was sitting watching "The Wire" (This is an amazing show, whatever your views, this show is a must!!!) and drinking a beer and thinking.  I have experience.  I do not spell well, so what.   Who does when a person has spell/grammer check to do it all for them.  As for experience...
I have worked in a large wood processing factory in the Upper Mid-west.  Good job. I lived as a Ski bumb in Utah. But does that make me an elitist?

Billy Jim is back and he doesn't get it.  It's really not the sum total of what you've done in your short life, Billy Jim.  It's how you look down your nose and present your leaning liberal comments as a "better-than-anyone on this forum" snob.  Since you aren't even 30 yet, your life's experiences don't qualify you for that pedestal.  When you've grown up and experienced more real life, you will either know what liberty and freedom are and be one of us or you will sink in the swamp of socialism that today's liberals are taking the country to.  It is your choice but when you're here, try to present your thoughts without the pompous attitude.

Well, if you had actually browsed around the forum before you came in calling everyone here knuckle-dragging troglodytes you would have realized this is NOT a place where we just call people names.  You would have seen some very interesting discussion on a wide-ranging number of topics.  Like anywhere else in the world, to simply barge in and start insulting people is rude.  And then to posit your own “superiority” while not even spelling your pronouncement of superiority will draw ridicule pretty much anywhere.

williamjames wrote:But i was sitting watching "The Wire" (This is an amazing show, whatever your views, this show is a must!!!) and drinking a beer and thinking.  I have experience.  I do not spell well, so what.   Who does when a person has spell/grammer check to do it all for them.  As for experience...

This sentence does not bode well for the "experience" you tout in the next sentence.  "The Wire?"  Really?  You draw your inspiration and life philosophy from an HBO drama show?  That would devalue your self-proclaimed "experience" for a lot of people.  And frankly, it does matter if you spell properly and use standard English and good grammar.  To do otherwise makes people look like an illiterate dolt.  If you want to present yourself that way, fine but don't complain when we point it out to you.

No, the fact that you have traveled and speak a couple of languages does not make you an elitist.  The fact that you bounce in and proclaim "there are alot of people out there like me who are college educated, thus a bit 'liberal'....But leave no doubt, if the social conservatives choose the better of the two, us Pragmatists (you know those people: doctors and lawyers and such that subscribe to The Economist) will vote and get out friends and family to vote for McCain...." and NOT see how arrogant and elitist that is then you need to look up those two words in the dictionary because you obviously do not understand the meaning of the words.

Once again, you demonstrate your ignorance of so much.  Bush may have never done "manual labor" but how does that figure in to anything?  Many, many Americans no longer perform "manual labor" the last time I looked at the economic and labor statistics.  (You might want to open that copy of "The Economist" and actually READ it instead of trying to wave it in our faces!)  We are much more a "white-collar" than "blue-collar" nation.  Frankly, I imagine "W" sitting in a steakhouse or a BBQ place or maybe a TexMex place.  And he doesn't drink any longer.  And since he was once a part-owner of a baseball team, I imagine he could still talk sports with anyone.

We conservatives aren't throwing the election.  John McCain is.  He is doing his damnedest to chase conservatives out of the party.  In my case, he has succeeded admirably.  Why in the world would a principled conservative be inclined to vote for a man who cannot stop alienating and vilifying conservatives?  What kind of twisted mental process makes that a good decision on the part of conservatives?

McCain is a big-government, big spending, anti-freedom liberal candidate.  He shares virtually none of the core conservative principles I hold dear.  And he keeps telling conservatives that he isn't coming around to our way of thinking!  Fine, I'll take McCain at his word and accept his deeds at face value.  He doesn't have any plan to govern as a conservative and therefore has no claim to my vote.  The fact that he won't be as bad as Clinton or Obama is not enough to make me vote for him.

Wow, Billy Jim, this looks like someone else wrote this post for you, either that or you were sloshed.

You have no idea where any of us have ever lived or what any of us have ever experienced.    Every person on this planet has had to live thru things.  Alot worse than others.  You're alive, aren't you?  Get off it.  Cut the crap and stop calling us bitches unless you really want to see what one is.

Billy Boy, you know nothing of what you speak.  I have been assaulted several times in several countries.  And I had to defend myself with my bare hands because gun ownership is either outlawed or heavily restricted.  So don't come crying here that none of us know what it is like in "da hood."

And for your profanity-laced, foul-mouthed rant I have put you on IGNORE.  I didn't come here to listen to this kind of stupidity.  I can get that from Air America if I want it.

I really shouldn't, but I feel I must

williamjames wrote:

Bad guess.

Would Pennsylvania Ave in Baltimore do? Or even southern Pikesville?  How about Arlington near Pimlico Racetrack?  Or  Patterson, NJ?  Or the edges of Roxbury in Boston, MA? How about SouthEast D.C. by the Navy Yard? (I worked, but didn't live, there)

And what's the hang-up with inner-cities?  Even places as seemingly nice as Falls Church, VA have places where most people unassociated with MS-13 are not comfortable living.  Trust me.  And Laurel, MD wasn't the nicest neighborhood I've ever seen.

Mostly, though, I find myself wondering how it is that someone so much more highly educated, intelligent, and wordly-wise than those poor "blue-collar" schlubs, still lives in the inner city.

If you are so much more intelligent and educated than the average man, why are you living in an obviously dangerous inner city?

Surely someone as superior as yourself could find superior employment, a superior salary, and move to a nice safe suburb where you no longer need to pull your gun on people, and where your "toughness" (still not sure why we're talking about "toughness") will not be questioned.

williamjames wrote:

Let me get this straight.  On a public street, in a city, YOU pulled a gun on someone because he wanted to "jump" you for some beer?

Do you have a concealed carry permit?

What kind of gun was this?

Was it purchased legally?

Was a Police Report filed?

Do the Police know that you pulled a gun on someone on a city street?

williamjames wrote:
BUTyou all act really tough, like you have really ever needed to use the ole 2ndAmendment.

I have never owned a gun, and, you're right, I have never needed one.  I'm not sure how that determines my "toughness" or lack thereof.

I'm not sure who was "acting tough" with regard to the 2d Amdt; but "guessing" that not one person on the forum has ever had to use a gun in self-defense is another really bad "guess" on your part.

williamjames wrote:

Isn't "The Wire" ostensibly about those neighborhoods of Baltimore near where I've lived (sans gun)?  Oh yeah, it IS.

williamjames wrote:

I've lived in Suburbs.  I grew up in a suburb.  Suburbs are nice.

I have never owned a gun.  I am unmarried, but my ex-fiance (The Whore) was very good looking (objectively).

I do, however, have a small penis.  Still, I'm not sure how this relates to my "toughness", or my need for a gun.

williamjames wrote:

Congratulations on your un-married status and your large penis.

Seriously, BRAVO!

williamjames wrote:

Again, bad assumption.

But, if you don't give a shit about such people, why rant & rave at them?

williamjames wrote:

Perhaps not, but increasingly, YOU ARE.

williamjames wrote:

Okay, NOW I'm confused.

I had the impression (perhaps from every other word or statement in your post) that the point of this rant was that you ARE a tough guy, and that WE are NOT.

williamjames wrote:

Again, not a great assumption that you are the only human being who has ever lived in a bad neighborhood.

Could you please cite/quote said bitching and moaning about bravery?

Yet another poster who joins and posts on "The Rush Limbaugh Forum" while apparently blissfully unprepared to encounter actual ..........dare I say..........CONSERVATIVES.

Seriously, who let those people in here?
