Why did Huckabee support Rev Wright's comments?

Why did Huckabee support Rev Wright's comments?

Postby paleocon on 03/20/08, 12:36 pm

I heard Huckabee make a few brief remarks on Mark Levin on Wednesday night.  He was lending support to Rev. Wright rants over his incredibly racists rants.  Can anybody explain why Huckabee might have done this?  For the life of me, I can't understand why Huckabee would defend Wright's statement?

I'll look for some links in case everyone else missed these comments.

Stunning.  Simply stunning.

Perhaps he's thinking he still has a chance for VEEP and he's moving in tune to McCain's civil campaign philosophy.  If he thinks that, he's dillusional.

The short answer is that because he, too, is a pastor; so he doesn't like anyone suggesting that a pastor can't say whatever he wants to say.

This, of course, misses the entire point of commotion surroounding Rev. Wright.  It also could be that Huckabee is the last person in the country to actually hear Wright's Anti-white, anti-semitic, anti-American rants.

Whichever the reason is, it's pretty clear that Huckabee is a moron.  If he weren't already out of the Republican Race, he would be after these statements supporting Rev. Wright.  If anyone remembers, it should also hurt his chances at re-election for Governor.

There is a vast difference between pointing out that a pastor has said something horrible and heretical and stopping a pastor from saying whatever he wants.  I now wonder if Huckabee understands that?  Wright's rants had more in common with Marxism and a KKK rally than with the Gospel of Christ.  But, Huckabee's failure to grasp that salient point just reinforces your last point about Gov. Huckabee's mental faculties.

I had respected Huckabee as a principled Christian even though horribly misguided on economics.  Now, I wonder about his understanding of orthodox Christianity as well.
