insightful thread.
the question is who is more likely to "cost" mccain the election? obama supporters say mccain or palin. turn this same question around to obama for a moment.
americans are winners. we think like winners. we like winning. and we like winners. all sarcasm aside i've become a mccain / palin supporter shortly after palin was selected because they, together, offer the best hope for a winning recipe over the next four years. is it a dream team, no. are there warts, yes. but i understand them, and they are not hiding true intents from the public. they are simply accomplished, successful and valued leaders in their own rights and they have rightfully won my vote. make that our vote because i can now safely speak for pretty-much everyone i know at this point.
for this my now immediate reaction to the conversion of this question to obama would be that mccain and palin collectively will "cost" obama the presidential election. he will lose because mccain / palin will win. mccain / palin are winners.
obama will lose but that does not make him a loser. he too is an accomplished individual garnishing respect albeit i might certainly give him more respect if i knew more about him, something he just doesn't want to share with the public apparently. he will lose because mccain / palin have out maneuvered him on the political playing field. they have been forthright and genuine, historically anyway, and where they are disingenuous for the sake of votes we know it. they simply are playing a better game of politics with the american people and decidedly so.
obama supporters don't seem to view their candidate in this way, and its interesting because this seems to be a common thread not just on this website but in the media. obama support seems to simply be the contra of mccain / palin.
logically that's a non-answer and a losing message to the american people. kind of hard to watch really, i believe in our two party system and vote my conscience. i like a good fight and i like to see a real winner. i most certainly wouldn't go willingly into battle on a premise that the enemy will cost the enemy the war. i'm going in because i believe i can win. for that matter i don't cheer for my teams to win on the basis that the other teams cannot.
that's some mighty weak support for obama. have a faith in the guy, not contra faith in his opponents. does your candidate a disservice. i no longer think obama can win the presidential election, not this year anyway, but that's not because i believe that obama is a loser. its because i believe that mccain / palin are winners.
