Vote for 2008 Most Outstanding Liberals - Choose Any Three

Postby paleocon on 03/31/08, 6:51 pm

Who were the most outstanding liberals so far in 2008?  Choose any 3 and explain why you selected these people as "Outstanding Liberals."

Some of the criteria could be:

Who did the most to encourage big government?
Who did the most to undermine free enterprise?
Who did the most to subvert the constitution?
Who spent most like a drunken sailor on shore leave?
Who disparaged and insulted the American people more than anyone else?

Of course, other categories are available!

I know it is tough to single out only 3 of the 10 names listed.  Maybe, like good liberals, we could have everybody "win."

Well of course there is a reason George W. Bush is on the list.  He is one of the three most liberal presidents since Ronald Reagan.

He's just being cute because neither Bush nor McCain are real conservatives on every issue and in fact have both been miserable examples of conservatives.  Bush has done more to destroy the conservative movement than any of these liberals since he has been the standard bearer for the last 7+ years and has led the party left.

However, I don't believe either one of them should be in the most Outstanding Liberals list.  I can think of at least one he didn't even mention and that is George Soros.  If it weren't for Soros, Moveon and alot of liberal organizations would be sitting flat; currently he's pledging $300M to the Dem nominee.  But then, if it weren't for McCain and Feingold, those organizations wouldn't be legal.  Aw geez..the Maverick Elephant is a Democrat Jackass in that regard..but still, he cannot even compete with Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, Obama, Clinton, Durbin, Kerry, the MSM, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and basically the entire Congressional Progressive Caucus.  Life sucks.

There are just too many real Liberals to choose the three most outstanding.  I simply cannot do it.  Liberalism=Socialism=Communism.  The US  is headed in a very bad direction, and there are way too many of them marching patiently in lockstep to pick 3.

I think Ted Turner, aka "Captain Planet," heard of my poll and wanted to get added on to the list.

Frankly, his effort was good but another liberal case of too little, too late.  But worthy of mention.

Billionaire environmentalist says world has too many people

Failure to address global warming will have us all dead or eating each other by mid-century.

So says Ted Turner, the restaurateur, environmentalist and former media mogul whose controversial comments have earned him the nickname "Mouth of the South."

JOHN SPINK/AJC

If steps aren't taken to stem global warming, "We'll be eight degrees hotter in 30 or 40 years and basically none of the crops will grow," Turner said during a wide-ranging, hour-long interview with PBS's Charlie Rose that aired Tuesday.

"Most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals," said Turner, 69. "Civilization will have broken down. The few people left will be living in a failed state — like Somalia or Sudan — and living conditions will be intolerable."

One way to combat global warming, Turner said, is to stabilize the population.

"We're too many people; that's why we have global warming," he said. "Too many people are using too much stuff."

Turner suggested that "on a voluntary basis, everybody in the world's got to pledge to themselves that one or two children is it."

Admitting that he's "always suffered from foot-in-the-mouth disease," Turner added, "I've gotten a lot better, though. It's been a long time since anybody caught me saying something stupid."
Read the rest here.

It hasn't been as long as you think, Ted.  Next time you decide to open your mouth, think again...
