Virtual Fence Project Fails! Government At Work Again!

Postby paleocon on 02/28/08, 11:50 am

A 28 mile stretch of "virtual" fencethat has cost over $20 million (thus far) has failed to perform as expected and been postponed for at least 3 more years.

If Chertoff, et al had simply built a regular fence we would be done by now.  But, it is obvious that they cannot and will not build a fence and have no intention of ever securing the borders.  Just another government boondoggle.  Your tax dollars at work.

Chertoff was on Glenn Beck two days ago talking about this virtual fence and was very positive about it.  I'm not so sure this is his fault.  I think it might be Bush's fault or maybe the darned thing just really doesn't work.  Whatever the reason, a 3-year delay is unconscienable.
We've got to do a better job of getting across that America is freedom--freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of enterprise. And freedom is special and rare. It's fragile; it needs protection.

I saw the interview Glenn had with Chertoff.  Glenn has had him on several times.  Each time, every word out of Chertoff's mouth has been a lie.  The fence is ostensibly Chertoff's job.  It can only be Bush's fault by vitue of appointing Chertoff, or by directing him to lie.  So, I'm quite sure that it is Bush's fault, but that doesn't absolve Chertoff from being a flunky in an intentional scam on the American People.  Neither Bush, nor Chertoff (nor any Presidential Candidate) has, has had, or will ever have ANY INTENTION of actually building a fence.  They will do absolutely everything within their considerable power to thwart ANY attempt to build a fence, or to protect our borders, or enforce federal immigration law; and will do whatever is necessary to subvert the will of the American People.

It is TREASON. Pure and simple.  Being carried out by President Bush, Chertoff, McCain, and everyone who actually has the power to seal our borders and stop illegal immigration.  They will not allow it to happen -- F**K what the American People want.

Every time I see Chertoff or hear him open his mouth I want to retch.  Either he is one of the dumbest people ever to live or he thinks the American people are or both.

The MinuteMen are building real fences for about $1.3 million per mile.  The real fences work.  The government spent years building a virtual fence for at least $1 million per mile and it didn't work.  Clearly the intent was to waste time and pretend like they were going to do something.  Now, we get another "oops" moment.  Treason is the right word.  They have refused to carry out their oath of office on the border and many, many other responsibilities.

I may have voted for my last Republican candidate.  I am sick to my stomach with the insanity that comes out of Washington.

I'm definitely with you - for Presidential elections.  Unfortunately, at lower levels (U.S. Congress & State Congresses) because we still have only a two party system (the virtues of which are increasingly questionable) any candidate who actually IS a conservative has little choice but to run as a Republican.

However, as far as Presidential elections go, I'm totally with you on that one.  At the Presidential level, and even Senatorial level, entrenched powers and incumbent politicians have made a mockery of democracy.  This past Republican Primary season was a farce.  Looks as though I'll be "writing-in" my votes for President for the foreseeable future.

The betrayal of not only conservatives, but America as a whole, by this President utterly sickens me.  I call it Treason, and it is.  I say the President has been guilty of impeachable offenses, and he has.

But the reason I say this only on this forum, and I don't scream for impeachment to Congress, or standing in front of the White House is that I know that any impeachment movement would be immediately hijacked by the Leftist clowns who also want to impeach Bush, but for all the wrong reasons.  I don't think I would even admit to a Leftist that I think Bush should be impeached, because their reasons are so flawed and they are totally ignorant of any genuine reasons why the man should be impeached.  So, this is my only outlet: "Impeach Bush!"

I have some updated costs for the 28 mile "virtual" fence.  The actual cost to build the "virtual" fence are $84 million.  The initial article didn't clearly state that $20 million was the initial investment and that the government had invested an additional $64 million recently in a vain attempt to fix some major problems.

This means that the US government has spent $3 million per mile to build a virtual fence that doesn't work.  The MinuteMen can build a real fence that actually works for $1.3 million per mile.

This is one more shining example of how a government program costs more, takes longer, and then doesn't work.  Our tax dollars at work.

The U.S. government is a total clusterf**k at all levels and in all things.  It need to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground (i.e., The Constitution) up.

No, I don't think you really mean that the constitution needs to be torn down and rebuilt.  The constitution is fine.  It is the government that needs to be torn down and rebuilt and forced to abide by a perfectly good constitution.

As long as the government can willfully ignore the constitution then the situation is bound to be abysmal.  Make the government adhere to the rules and things should be fine.

That's what I meant, I just didn't say it right.

The government needs to be rebuilt from the Constitution -- using the Constitution as the foundation.
