It's funny. After I became politically awakened/interested/involved - mostly as a result of Sept. 11th, 2001 - I finally began listening to folks who said that the mainstream media was liberally biased. At the time, I had a subscription to the Washington Post, so that's where I first realized what they were talking about.
After that came amazing revelation after amazing revelation that nearly everything that I watched, heard, or read was horribly biased with a liberal viewpoint. First, it was certain cable news stations, then the broadcast news, then other newspapers, then "60 Minutes" and so on. For some reason, I specifically remember sitting in a doctor's waiting room reading a magazine when I realized that TIME and Newsweek were nothing more than Leftist propaganda rags.
Since those times, I've observed left-wing bias in every form of media in this country from John Stewart's Daily Show (which I used to love, but can no longer watch), to Hollywood movies, to TV sitcoms and dramas, to the Weather Channel, to magazines like National Geographic, even to commercials and ads in magazines.
Put simply, unless one listens to conservative Talk Radio one can NEVER get a grip on the actual truth -- vs. the propaganda disguised as "News".
The exponential growth of blogs, forums, and other websites on the internet certainly helps (except when it hurts due to information overload).
I just can't get worked up about the anti-troop, anti-military, anti-American CRAP spewed by the multitudes of outlets for leftist propaganda -- like TIME magazine -- anymore. Unce upon a time, every time I saw things like this, it was like a metal spike in my brain; enraging, infuriating, and simultaneously stunning and confusing me. Now I hardly notice it, & never really get enraged by it (though I'm still sometimes astounded, offended, anmazed, confused, and sorta mad about these things). In fact, I find it impossible to actually even read or listen to that garbage. All I can do these days is ignore it and hope that more & more people will eventually wake up to the propagandist tripe they've been fed their entire lives.
