Kudo's to Mr White for his well written article.  Alas, he is so right.  When I was young , many moons ago, our local Police Department in a very large Metropolitan City prided themselves for their collective roles in 'Crime Prevention'.

That has changed to the point where most all today's Police cars carry the motto, "To Protect and Serve". As Mr. White so aptly points out the role of the Police has changed radically from what it was to what it is now...not much more than a reporting service...and that after the fact.  No more beat cops who held the respect of every kid who thought that flirting with the Law meant the back of a hand or a rap on the head with a night stick for even thinking about crossing the big, gregarious mostly Irish beat Cop who was determined to see that there was no trouble on his watch.

Rattle a doorknob to see if the business was properly locked at night? No more.  We've become so mechanized that it's no longer necessary for the, sometimes required backup the investigating officer might need was seated right next to him for the whole shift...his partner.  The radio will be the medium to call for 'backup'.  But will it arrive in time?

The consensus in the 50's was, 'you cannot outrun a radio', and for that time in history it probably put the fear of the Law where it belonged....on the backs of the would be perpetrator.

Then enter 40 years of Liberal Politicians with an agenda into Washington, DC.  Liberal Judges= Liberal Courts and Sentencing Guidelines drawn up by Liberal Defense Attorneys and rammed through the Congress and State Legislatures.

Good God and Little Fishes!  The kids in the schools could witness a battery, a rape and even God forbid a death of one of their schoolmates and not break the code of silence to 'rat out' the perp!
Is this what our Nation is becoming? Are we to be relegated to the level of a 'snitch' for answering truthfully any questions put to us by lawful authority? Are we so afraid of being stigmatized?

It was all started in New York, by Liberal Hollywood, in the early days of Television.  Any crime that was committed in the Big Apple was almost destined to go unsolved because of the mentality of 'not getting involved'. That attitude helped the Mafia flourish and maintain a control over an entire city!

We The People are the last possible line of defense for CrimePrevention. Gone are those wonderful secure days of the friendly beatcop in whose hands we could place our children and their safety and not concern ourselves about them becoming 'street smart' to their peril.

Wake up America...before it's too late...or is it already too late?
