The Self-Destructive GOP

Postby Mr Jones on 09/02/08, 5:06 pm

I think the tragic death of Bill Buckley earlier this year is fitting, in a year when we nominate a Phony RINO panderer who has no respect for right-wing principles.

The RINOS push the idea that we need to "modernize" the party and fill it with liberal ideas. In 1980, 1984, and 1988, we ran on real, right wing, Bill Buckley Ideas, and we won nearly every state each time. Then Bush, Sr. Came and we moved to the center. When we moved to the center, we stopped winning with these huge landslides and and lost (92' and 96') or won by smaller and smaller margins (00' and 04').

The GOP is killing itself by moving to the center, and now toward liberal ideas with John McCain. And the idiot RINO leadership moves further to the left when we lose, thinking liberal policies will help them attract "Moderate" voters.

Only 2% of America is modrate, 60% is conservative. Most of the conservatives are staying home because of this stupid policy of moving to the left.

DONT VOTE FOR A RINO!!!! STAY HOME FOR THE GIPPER!!!!!!

That is hard to follow but I still ask the same question over and over with no good answer yet...how do we keep ending up with such lightweights for candidates. Every time I debate this with "Republicans", they tell me I have to support them or we will get even worse. I hear this over and over. Shouldn't we be able to do better than just taking the lesser of 2 evils?

guys,  Do you not think that the palin choice is a step in the right direction?  And Bobby Jindal??   Here's something that happened to me.  I was reading a series of speeches given in this country by opposing politicians on particular issues.   One man was bitterly remarking on the damage done to this country by illegal immigrants, anti american sentiments of certain groups and more and more liberal ideas that were cropping up and how they were destroying the country and we were on the verge of destruction.    It was written in 1863.

[SIZE=10pt]concur entirely. ms. palin is an excellent choice. and she is most certainly a ray of hope for a solid future. know how to tell? the democrats are in an uproar while no one else is.
[SIZE=10pt]
[SIZE=10pt]"...stay home for the gipper...." is a non-starter if you believe in democracy. you might as well stay home and start to pack your bags.
[SIZE=10pt]
[SIZE=10pt]i watched some of the gop convention last night. you cannot blame a mirror for reflecting an image. if you're fat, you're fat. both republican and democrat parties reflect our nation. when you look at america you have to ask how we ever got this far. we are divided, detached, disassociated with one another, and culturally unconnected at the root. [SIZE=10pt]it should come as no surprise that we’ve always been this way, from day-one to present. its what makes us a great nation.
[SIZE=10pt]
[SIZE=9pt]

[SIZE=10pt]what we didn’t have until more recently is such a prolific, immoral, corrupt and subversive media. thank the Lord for an internet and i applaud the demise of printed press....let's keep that land slide going with television. may all journalists become so bitterly unemployed they are forced to find meaningful employment along with the rest of the nation, or a nation to hang there hat but not this one if they are so inclined to see democracy fail.

[SIZE=10pt]
[SIZE=10pt]the two party system seems to be working just fine, business-as-usual. the gop is just fine and its center will move all over the place, along with the democrat party. isn’t pretty to watch but democracy works.

So if I chose not to vote for a Liberal who might as well be a democrat I might as well "pack my bags" and get out of America?

The GOP has abandoned Small Government Conservatism, and moved to big government quazi-socialist policies.

The GOP has thrown out Christian values and nominated someone who has a 17 year old pregant sex addict( I would like to use a different word) for a daughter.

The GOP has thrown out National Security, and nominated a guy who supports Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants.

The GOP has ended opposition to Capatialism killing Unions, and nominated a veep who supports them.

The GOP has announced support for Algore and his Global Warming lies.

The GOP has thrown out Pro-Life stances, and nominated a man who believes we should have babies being cut apart as long as 51% of the people in a state support it.
The GOP was "moderate" (really means against) on drilling when it was low in the polls, then suddenly supported it when it moved up.

I am not voting for a RINO liberal just because he picked a conservative veep

And do not tell me for one second that John McCain reflects the values of any American that you would find outside of Hollywood. John McCain is the nominee because Romney, Huck,(these two were just as liberal) and Fred Thompson split the Right Wing vote in the South Carolina Primary. He is the nominee because we had no real conservative choices on the ticket thanks to John McCain's own Incumbent Protection Act.

I hope I dont sound too angry here, but this guy is clueless. 60% of america is conservative. If we would just run a conservative candidate we could win like we did in the 80's again. Instead we nominate some "Maverick" to appeal to liberals.

I am not voting on election day. It is not worth the gas money to drive out to the polls. And with John McCain switching his position on drilling every day, I doubt it ever will be. I am just going to watch the game, and hope the GOP learns ti lesson on this "moderate' stufff when they lose.

McCain/ Palin can be productive somehow, though. Sarah Palin could go on Jerry Springer to sort out her crazy family. That would be entertaining at least.

And what is your solution to the problem? To allow a radical marxist anti American to win the presidency and turn the country into your own worst fear?  And than you are going to point fingers at the GOP because you didn't want to vote?

Are you really as dim as you appear to be? This isn't child 's play where if you hold your breath long enough momma is going come and save you. The absolute worst thing that could happen right now is for Obamanation to win and with a dem majority ram his agenda down your throat.

If John McCain wins, he will "compromise" with the democrats(give what ever they want) John McCain has no regard for Buckley principles and will want to avoid a fight with congress that could hurt his approval rating. There is very little difference between Obama and McCain as far as the situation goes. McCain will "Compromise" with the democrats, and Obama will also gove the democrats whatever they want.

Well jonesy.   WE KNOW that obama will.  But you don't know absolutely how McCain is going to go.   But these are your choices.    What'z  the best you can choose at this point.   At least with a McCain we have a chance at a comeback with more and better conservatives.   Get an obama in there with a democrat congress and you'll kiss RLForum and RL goodbye for good.    You;ll see the end of the Republican party for years to come  if it ever gains enough strength to make a comeback.
