The empty energy bill
Our representatives, and I use the word loosely, on the hill need to stop looking out for themselves and their backroom buddies and start doing their jobs. Using scare tactics of Global Warming is reprehensible.
This bill was nothing more than another way to take money from one group of people and give it to another. Just because the word Tax was not spelled out does not mean the American people are stupid. Business Management 101 Cost of Business has direct relation on dollar amount of the cost of end product to the consumer.
Attempting to pass an energy bill that does nothing to provide this country with energy technologies that we need now, not years from now, is the latest in the long tally of ineptitude and stupidity.
We have the means and the technologies to increase our current Methods of energy usage and we can do so in an environmentally safe way.
Nuclear power, right now is the best way to produce energy that the country can use in its current infrastructure without increasing those horrid CO2 emissions that has this countries knickers in so tight a bunch its cutting off the blood to our bal….I mean brains. Hello Harry Reid.
Alternative fuels in the form they are in now do not work. Ethanol, is a lose lose proposition as well as the other bio-fuels. Until we can change the extraction process so it uses at lot less energy to produce the end product and it would actually increase gas mileage, which it doesn’t, forget about it. Wind power is questionable at best, proven unreliable, destructive to our feathered friends, and butt ugly. The old fashioned water wheel provided energy way back when and Hydropower still has some possibilities but we really don’t have a good history with building and maintaining levees and dams. So, that is not a good viable avenue at this time. To squeeze oil out of coal or shale, maybe, with some more research and good old American ingenuity it would certainly help take the pressure off the supply and demand end of the equation. Drilling at ANWR and off our shores makes the most sense in the short run, if you can call 7 to 10 years short. We know how, we have the means and we can be good stewards of the planet while we do it. China and India are building a drilling platform right of our cost. Do you think they are going to be as careful as this country would be? No one is screaming at China and India, not that it would do much good anyway. Tapping our known reserves of oil is certainly not the end all of our energy woes but it gives us what I like to call Tech Time. The time to develop needed technologies to give us good, thought out, planned, workable, sustainable and cost efficient solutions to keep this country solvent economically not to mention secure from outside influences.
The people up on the hill known all of this. But this is an election year. Nothing will get done. They planned on nothing getting done, but this way they can say we tried, but those nasty hateful people who don’t’ care about this planet and are in bed with big oil keep use from getting this done.
No WORKABLE ENGERY BILL again this year. Zero, Zilch, Nothing, Nada. Wow! How many years of the same thing? Don’t blame Bush, this has been going on long before he was in office, lets remember Carter.
So, crude continues to increase in price, which costs us more at the pump. Investors, if there are any more left out there, won’t invest in research and development when they have no idea what the nuts on the hill are going to promote or ban, and us good tax paying citizens will have to turn down the heat from a toasty 60 last year to 50 degrees this coming winter.
