The Gross National Debt:

Term Limits

Term Limits

Postby jrg907 » 10/24/09, 5:00 am

While I am on my soap box please let me have one last blast:
Why is no one leading a campaign for term limits? My guess is that almost everything that is wrong in Washington can be traced back to our elected officials number one priority: raising money for reelection. Instead of doing what they were elected to do by the people they are supposed to represent, they represent only those that are contributing to their campaign. It costs so much to run a campaign that our representatives don't have time to actually do anything other than raise money.
We have given control of our government over to big money lobbyists and the only way we will ever regain control is to have term limits.

The clowns we have in office will never vote themselves out of office

neither will the voters, because most voters think their congressman is great

its the other congressmae that are bad.

a parlamentary system is the only thing that could change things

so i guess we will have to keep our president system like ----afgan--russia--most of south america--iran--most of africa and the rest of the great countries of the world.

Never thought I would say this but it is time for a legitimate 3rd party.

jrg, let me get this straight now about what you just said...  We, as a people, have let our two party get soooooo faaaaaar out of line that we can't control it and you are suggesting a three party system???  Sure, add to the problem.  A third party is not going to fix this system.  We could have ten parties and the biggest crooks will just go to the strongest party and so on.  WE NEED TO FIX THIS SYSTEM, not add more problems to it.  Let's go all the way back to the signing of the DOI and start from there.

WE AS THE PEOPLE, need to demand TERM LIMITS for our elected officials.  After all, WHO ELECTS THEM?  The POWER is still with the people, we have just stepped back and gave it to Washington.  We could do this if the majority of the people saw this as something serious, as aparently you and I do.
With every journey, there is a destination.  Enjoy your journey, the destination will be there when you arrive.  ackack

Yes, I am afraid that we have let both parties get completely out of line. Ex is right that they will never go for term limits. Republicans had a chance to put in term limits in 1994 and were backed by a large majority of the people. How did that work out? Many of the ones that pledged term limits are STILL in office today.

I will say this , in ALL of congress there are only 3 members i would even go across the street to see.

1) BYRON DORDAN -ND-  LOVES AMERICAN WORKERS AND SMALL FARMERS FIRST

2) RON PAUL -TX- LOVES AMERICA FIRST AND HATES THE FED RESERVE

3) JIM BUNNING -KY- HATES THE FED REASERVE

4) JIM TRAFICANT - EX OHIO- LOVES AMERICA ( JUST RELEASED FROM PRISON )

THE REST ARE A BOUNCH OF WHORES IN IT FOR WHOEVER GIVES THEM THE MOST MONEY

Although you are probably correct. Calling people names will not change anything or resolve the challenges we face.

I don't think it is name calling when you say what people do.

The only difference is the people in congress don't get arrested for it.

After watching what is happening in NY, 23, I am reconsidering what I said about a 3rd party. Spent several hours today looking at conservative and liberal blogs. Neither are happy. Maybe we will end up with FOUR distinct parties. A far left, a center left, a far right and a center right. The way things are going now, the Republicans do not want any moderates in the party and neither do the Democrats. We may be in serious trouble but it is going to be very interesting watching this develop.
