Site Updates

Postby ultracon on 01/12/08, 3:54 pm

Hello everyone!!

I've updated the engine that our forum runs on.  I believe this will fix some of the small bugs seen around the site.  Can you please keep an eye open, and report in this thread if you see any problems.

Thanks!

I see a lot of problems with the post preview not matching the actual post when it is submitted.  This is especially true when I embed tables and even change fonts.  When I have trouble embedding a table I often try to rough it out with Courier New.  But when I last tried this instead of changing the font it simply inserted {font=Courier New}....{/font} in the post.  I will recreate it here.

               Value 1     Value 2     Value 3
Line 1       1               2               3
Line 2       4               5               6

               Value 1     Value 2     Value 3

Line 1       1               2               3
Line 2       4               5               6

This is what it looks like in "preview" but this is NOT what it looks like finally.

Great!  This time it worked as expected.  Kind of odd.

You really need to check your time on the server.  At one point you told me you were on Eastern Time.  However, I just made a post at 20:20 EDT and the time stamp on the post was 19:04.  You might want to check the time and set the time server to something other than your current gerbil-powerd clock.

The gerbil may keep bad time, but he's great company

I'll check the server clock...

I don't know what you are feeding him but it isn't working.  Maybe you should only let him watch Fox News.  Air America might be boring him to sleep.

I've been having issues when posting recently, particularly when quoting someone. I prefer to only show the quoted text that's applicable to my post, so I trim it down, and then add my message in the text box after the end quote html string. This usually works, but in the last couple of days, I either end up with a message that quotes the other person's entiremessage and erases my post, or gives me an error of, "Your message contains too few characters."

This happens on my mac and PC at work and home using firefox or safari browsers. Sometimes the posting system works, sometimes it doesn't. Any clue what's going on here?
