It's that 80% - 90% of the American public has NO CLUE that this just happened; let alone what it means.

Yes, and think about how many would know anything about anything if they get the Fairness Doctrine into law.

None.

Scary thought.

Not to worry, though.  I've got the tines on my pitchfork all sharpened and shiny, and my torches are soaking in kerosene as we speak.

This would be a good time to point out that John McCain has pledged to appoint Strict Constructionist judges. If you respect human life, you owe it to vote for John McCain this November. Your saftey depends on it

In the Senate, John McCain helped to confirm conservatives Antonin Scalia, John Roberts, Samuel Alito, and Clarence Thomas. He, as a Loyal Moderate Conservative, voted against many liberal appointments. As a member of the Gang of 14 he helped in many ways to confirm several Conservative Justices.

Let's win a victory this november, for the Right to Life, let's win one for Freedom. Support the Republican Party this November.

This would be a good time to point out that John McCain has repeatedly failed to respect the pledges he made each time he took the following oath of office where he said:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

Yet, he has assaulted the first amendment and refused to secure our borders against foreign enemies.  Clearly Senator McCain broke those  pledges.  Clearly Senator McCain will break future pledges.

Hey, i realize that i have to go back 25 years into john McCains record to defend him sometimes, but this stuff is recent, Roberts was confirmed in 2005.

Actually the events I speak of happened fairly recently.  I know McCain would like to forget McCain-Kennedy of 2007 infamy but it is kind of "out there."  And McCain-Feingold became law in 2002.  No need to go back 25 years to see his most egregious broken pledges.

The McCain Kennedy Act of 2007 didnt pass! it was an honest mistake, and  McCain apollogized! isnt that good enough? I know you are all angry, but it wasnt amnesty. There were Conservative Provisions, that would have had a built fence. And now John McCain realizes that its the Borders first.

The Feingold Act. I know you Ultra-Cons are all angry about this issue, but offiicial studies prove it worked. No more soft money, clean politics. Now, the only "dirty money" is from small 527s, whitch have little influence. They are blown out of proportion.

Vote for John McCain in 2008

Good one!

On a serious note, I don't trust McCain to appoint constructionist judges even when he promises to.

I also don't trust that John McCain's idea of a constructionist is the same as mine.

I also REALLY don't trust that McCain would stand firm on a conservative, constructionist nominee when faced with opposition from a Democrat Congress.  John "across the aisle" McCain? I don't think so.

Finally, the two Supremes most likely to retire are both leftists: Stevens and Ginsburg.  Obviously, replacing one or both with a strict constructionist would fundamentally change the make-up of the Court for the better.  However, even if Obama gets to choose their replacements, the worst we would get is more of the same that we have now.

I'm not saying that this is acceptable to me (the current Court has WAY overstepped its Constitutional authority); but when the worst case scenario is maintaining the status quo, and the best case is relying upon John McCain to stand firm on conservative principles in the face of Democrat opposition -- well, to me, it's a wash either way.
