Red Dawn Remake to blame pro-Liberty folks for China Attack!

Holywood.

I just had a conversation with an LA friend, so apologies if this has already been discussed. I wasn't aware of it as a greenlit project, I thought it was just a circulated idea.

One take on it:
http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/07/09/ ... n-you-mgm/

INFO:
Two top executives at MGM, Harry Sloan and Mary Parent, announced that a remake of Red Dawn is in the early stages of pre-production in May 2008 at the Festival de Cannes. This was announced along with a big-budget rebuild of RoboCop, which director Darren Aronofsky among others has recently been in to discuss. The remake of Red Dawn is slated to be directed by Dan Bradley, who has previously worked as a second unit director and stunt coordinator on films such as The Bourne Ultimatum, Spiderman 3 and the Quantum of Solace. MGM has announced that Red Dawn will be remade "keeping in mind the post-9/11 world that we're in". In a further announcement the same month, Dan Bradley has been confirmed as the director with Carl Ellsworth, screenwriter of Red Eye and Disturbia writing the updated screenplay.Ellsworth will be working from a story written by Jeremy Passmore. Vincent Newman (A Man Apart) is also acting in a producer capacity. Australian Chris Hemsworth has been cast in a lead role.

Ellsworth has said:

"The tone is going to be very intense, very much keeping in mind the post-9/11 world that we’re in. As ‘Red Dawn’ scared the heck out of people in 1984, we feel that the world is kind of already filled with a lot of paranoia and unease, so why not scare the hell out of people again? It was later revealed that the Chinese would be the invaders and they would be aided by the Russians later on."

Joining Hemsworth are Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki for the film, with a possible setting of Spokane, Washington. Marquette, Michigan is being considered as a filming location. Tony Gilroy, who wrote The Bourne Trilogy and Michael Clayton will do a rewrite of script. Kurt Russell is currently in talks to star in Red Dawn. Recently Josh Hutcherson and Isabel Lucas have been added to the cast. The day after, Edwin Hodge and Connor Cruise were cast, thus completing the Wolverines.[13] It was confirmed that the film will be shot in Michigan, and part of the movie would be shot in Detroit. Academy Award Winner, Kirk Francis has been tasked for the Sound Mixing.[citation needed] It currently has a release date of September 24th, 2010.

Why remake this? The answer is very clear, they want to take posession of it like they are doing with the 9-11 holiday. They plan on changing the meaning of 9-11.

No doubt this script will contain anti-American themes. Probably have Obama be a martyr and unsuspecting victim, with Pelosi singing the National Anthem. I really expect this to be the most ant-American thing I have seen in a while. They want to directly attack a piece of cinema which embodies what American self sufficiency and individualism is all about.

I would be surprised if it was Patriotic like the original... There have been many speculations as to who the enemy will be, but from what I have heard it whoever it is will have been aided by Conservatives, while Democrats are caught off-guard and lead the resistance. I get this from a friend who i trust and still works in Los Angelas (meaning he hasn't fled.) He stated to me that there are so many pokes in this script and so much propaganda it is pathetic. Who knows what the final film will show, he said he is commenting on the early pitch meetings which took place to create the story. It will be a real world revisionist script, filled with Stalin like heroism from the Obama left, with Conservatives and militia types to blame... More specifically he says that China is the enemy, but were only able to invade because of Republican administrations! I'm no Bush fan, but that is quite a stretch...

One last thing passed on to me was that the purpose was to distract and galvanize people towards a foreign enemy and keep them from viewing the Federal government as a problem. Of course china is a problem, just read Red Dragon Rising, but we have serious problems here at home. People who view Chinese Communism as acceptable are now in our Government!

A re-write which has the Federal Government, aided by the Chinese attack it's own people would be acceptable, but of course this will never happen.

Can we really expect a Hollywood with Ari Emanuel, brother of Rahm Emanuel would produce a patriotic movie? Of course not.

We'll see. May end up being a good point of protest. If this has any element of pro left wing propaganda I will do everything in my power to disrupt it and ensure that MGM does not receive a dime in profit. I will endeavour to make this the most costly release of propaganda ever! I am so sick and tired of having far left, pro-Marxist maure rammed down my throat in the guise of entertainment, I'll draw the line here. Since Holywood is sued to seeing frail, fatherless, homosexual college males in che shirts and Berkenstocks holding up Hooray Harvey Milk signs on San Fran street corners, let's make them see what protest really is. The Independent, Libertarian and Conservative white male is the most powerful consumer demographic. They are going to use this movie to mock Liberty, history and our military, I for one won't let it happen.

One thing folks can do is to contact MGM and DEMAND that the script be released. If we are truly consumers, and believe me Holywood speaks dollars, now is the time to begin a protest against them. Don't take their word for it, read the script! If gets released with any scent of Collectivism and deviates from reality ensure they lose money on it...

BOYCOTT MGM until we see the story!

I remember a show from way back, it might have been Outer Limits but I haven't been able to nail it down on the internet: The Chinese were going to take over America by building a tunnel under the Pacific Ocean and then march across!

I don't understand your pre-hatred of this film.  What do you count as Anti-American themes?  Explain these please.

I ask because if it is to be set in a "post 9/11 world" which isn't as cut and dry as the Cold War was (which is oversimplifying the public and the Cold War itself).  First, pointing out just how dumb a remake is, there is no other military super power left besides us.  The chances of a big world war again are pretty small.  China is pretty stacked, but would never choose attempting war to losing our dollars on their exports.  Also, to call China "Communist" is laughable.  They are very, very free market.  Probably more so than us.  Second, 50+% of the voters elected a man who is very diplomatic and doesn't believe war is the first answer.  That means 50+% of us feel the same way.  Seeing how the population with that view point would react would be interesting.  I personally think a bunch of spoiled suburban shitheads finally having to become independent would be a great American theme.  If the kids are all wearing donkey shirts and some kid with an elephant shirt on becomes the turncoat, I can see how you may have a real gripe.

Regardless, the original movie was only a pro-America movie because of the circumstances.  Watch it again.  The kids aren't fighting for some patriotic ideal, they are fighting because somebody invaded their home and killed or locked up their friends and family.  The scream "Wolverines!" not "go America!".  They are not fighting for "American Ideals", they are fighting for their lives and freedom.  It could have easily been changed into Afghans fighting the Soviets.  The principle is the same.  It is an action movie that deals with how teenagers would react when thrown into a Lord of the Flies situation.

not to worry.  it will suck just as all other remakes have ESPECIALLY one that had Patrick Swayze as the original star.    And what is it with the emmanuel brothers.....rahm politics, ezekial medicine and ari in entertainment.  The unholy trinity.    freaky.

For crying out loud it is a movie. Entertainment. They make them and then charge people to watch them. It is called capitalism. If you don't like it, don't put out your hard earned money to watch it.

The entertainment industry is not interested in capitalism.  It is interested in Socialism and propagandizing the masses.     They don't care if they don't make money from their audience.  They will be supported by those that they propagandize FOR.

Cal you are just dead wrong there. If there is a dollar to be made doing anything they will do it. Just like my Dad always said "follow the money". He actually said that before Watergate. They are not going to do anything that they don't think will make money. They are often wrong but that does not change anything.

Sometimes for some people, propagandizing the masses is worth more than money.  They're still making money from leftists who will see it and from their backers who have a dog in that fight.    Movie makers know what Americans want to see...and once in a great while, they'll produce it.  But too many films are dedicated to leftist dogma.

Just another observation on my part. Conservatives would overlook these blatant attempts to sway people...for instance, in Enemy of the state, Will Smith and his onscreen wife talk about 'evil republicans'.  Obviously Jon Voight was a republican murderer.  It was obvious the dead politician was a democrat.   Conservatives liked the movie and overlooked the insult to their politics and beliefs.  Well not any more.    People are not willing to ignore this any longer and they're saying so with their non attendance in theatres and avoidance of certain movies.

We should be worried. The left are in charge right now. This is unraveling on them quickly and soon the illegal conduct they have been doing, while their guy in the Department of Justice Eric Holder covers for their illegal activities, will soon become public as the ACORN nugget will render access to all the criminal plots and conspiracies will come to light over the next ten years.

We should never forget, the left celebrated Sept 11th with the Muslims. (Hard core leftist only) The left are legally and historically recognized to be the militant portion of society prone to terrorism. McVey is the only known right wing nut who attacked the government for the same reasons the left do. When this falls apart and the sound minded people return to the center of power, I would expect an eruption in violence against the government and the public from the left.

The left is destroying Healthcare to get rid of people. Literally kill them by denying and depriving healthcare. They have successfully annihilated small business and commercial business along with the housing market. That constitutes the majority of American population, the bottom 75% of the economic food chain. The destruction that is being done is real. Denial will only prolong their continued success in destroying America. Now the good thing is that if they are successful, US currency will no longer exist which means all the power they sought will be non existent because they destroyed it. The chaos they will leave behind will make the dark days in Europe after WWII look like a picnic party.

China is not the problem. Our problems are internal. We have enemies of the state in positions of power whose agenda is death and destruction. Those who fail to see this are born victims of this. Your fate is already sealed.

Funny how the creative people in Hollywood have to resort to so many remakes. Get your own ideas or are your brains too fried to come up with anything new. They are remaking Clash of the Titans too, no doubt they will Make Perseus a cross-dressing gay rights activist and the cracken will be an evil conservative.
