I think the poeple supporting either of the candidates will still vote for the one who wins rather than McCain. It just seems to further inflame the division in this country right now. I'd just really like to see more people realize that the R and the D aren't that much different. This kind of thing just serves to distract people from the issues. It makes it into a sporting event where people just root for their team no matter what. I'd like to see all politicians wear jackets like Nascar drivers with patches of their "sponsors".
Well, from Rush's point of view prolonging the fight will drain the coffers of the eventual nominee. And that will be important for McCain because either Dem is raising 2 or 3 times the money that McCain is raising. If they spend it now against each other they can't spend it against McCain.
It is less than clear if Obama supporters will vote for Clinton or vice versa. The polls, if they can be trusted, indicate that this race is splitting the Dems. This is another reason Rush is pusing Operation Chaos.
In fact, this is not distracting people from issues. It is demonstrating that Obama is a characterless liar who is hiding everything that he can. And that is an issue and it is a big issue. The man sat under the racist tutoring of a monster for 20 years. The man calls an unrepentant terrorist a friend. None of these things would have come to light if the primaries ended in March.
I cannot argue that R and D labels mean very little. All three are hardly good for America and that is why I won't be voting for McCain. But, Americans need to know their choices and Op Chaos is giving them that chance. What they do with that information is up to them but they, we, deserve full disclosure and we weren't getting it.
