There you go again!  You arrogant snob!  So all "college educated" are liberals?  It is good to see that it isn't only Obama liberals who are out of touch with reality.  This is exactly why I no longer consider myself a Republican!  This snobbery and arrogance is utterly obnoxious.

If you want to be a socialist and you want the GOP to be the "other" socialist party in America, go ahead.  Chase all the conservatives out of the party and see how many elections you win.

If that happens, the democrats will be able to raise taxes as high as they want, and McCain wouldn't be able to stop then even if he wanted to. So when the economy tanks because of higher taxes, the Republicans would get the blame if McCain is president. I believe the Republican party would much be worse off after 4 years of McCain than it would be with either Hillary or Obama, and I don't see how the country would be any better off with McCain.

You have hit the nail right on the head!  McCain will be the death of the GOP.  He will chase out all the remaining conservatives and turn the GOP into the "other" socialist party in America.  He will get blamed for everything that goes wrong and the Republicans won't win another election for 40 years.

Yes, they will because those in charge of the RNC  are turning it into the JFK Democrat Party.  It's the conservatives who won't be in power probably never, ever again if Obama or HRC are elected.   Once the socialists have the power, the new millions and millions and millions  of voters comprising their new legal hispanic voter block plus their secondary black voter block, plus the gay voter block, will insure a socialists remain in office.  Since there are already socialists in the RNC, the RNC be back in power someday.

If McCain is elected, it just might make the party more conservative, not less.  Right now the Republican members of Congress are weeding out the RINOs. The only chance for conservatism to be revived is for McCain to be elected and believe me, I hate saying that.

What scares me is not McCain vetos being overridden by a liberal congress, but rather the 'maverick'  LEADING the charge to pass liberal legislation.

Again, that is the key issue.  McCain has moved so far left in the last several years that he seems to agree with Kennedy, Clinton, and Feingold more often that not.  I don't see him vetoing their socialist programs but virtually co-sponsoring them with his liberal pals still in the Senate.

Frankly, if Hillary somehow fails to steal the election from Obama I suspect Hillary will be on the top of McCain's short list for VEEP candidates.  I can see it now, "McCain/Clinton 08!"  The National Unity Ticket!

We are soooo screwed.

Thanks Paleo.

I haven't been around for a few weeks so I can't vouch for williamjames' other posts, but this one oozed elitism.  I appreciate you responding in the way you did, so I didn't have to.

WilliamJames,
There are actually some people out there like me who have an undergraduate degree, a graduate degree, a law degree, and more years of life experience, and who are still schmucks without a clue who at least have the wisdom to recognize that despite (or because of) superior formal education, our opinions do not inherently have greater value than those of the average highschool dropout.  Unfortunately for the country, our governments at all levels are filled top to bottom with elitist putzes who think they know how to run others' lives better than those others know how to run their own lives.

In short, formal education means sh!t ..... trust me.  The more time one spends in school, the dumber one gets, and the less able to actually positively contribute to society.

And, by the way, 30 to 40 years ago, having an undergraduate degree was impressive and meant something -- Today it simply makes one average/typical/nothing special.

Thats your problem cwenger...always thinking about the next election and making the Dems look bad...and blau blau.  God forbid you want to get something done now...so something to clean up the mess we are in (not just Iraq mind you).  The hell with that....it is for one thing stupid as an American, and two it is dangerous.  Give your enemy enough rope and they'll hang themselves goes the old argument from Sun Szu.  I get it.  But its too high of a price to pay.  Moreover, the country is in a Protectionist and pro-government mood.  Be very careful cheering for the otherside.  Many a fools have made that mistake.

I did not mean to come off as an "elitist" as you call me.  That is another just another label.  You are right, a college education is not worth much if it is in the Liberal Arts...at least nothing to brag about.  My point is that there are alot of people who THINK and do not identify themselves through some political party.  YOU are sounding elitist...with all that  "my experience and i know best."  Everyone thinks they know best!  Get over yourself.  Some people will blindly follow a party or some pundit/critique or whatever you call Rush... a talk show host is what he is.  But i like to read the facts and make up my own mind.  Sorry if that makes me an elitist. Then i guess i am.  My point is only that McCain can win, and he needs the support of his base.  Otherwise you will just be another "wait until next election" guy.  You are just as bad as a politician otherwise.

Damn, you folks sure are touchy. Its like a damn high school football rivalry with you sad people.  Everyone you disagree with is either a socialist or a liberal or a communist...SO much for civil discourse.  This place is as bad as The Huffington post.  Good luck with your cause.
Let me  tell you  something if you do not already KNow it.  Bush's presidency was a disaster...much more harm caused than by any foreseeable McCain Presidency.  The Far right is as nuts as the far left.  All that crap about sitting in the middle of the road gets you run over...that BS is NO different than the same crap spewed on the Left.  You all are aware of that, right?  God i hope so.  But no worries, because you will never hear from me again.

No, you managed to miss the point again.  Most of us aren't touchy.  But, when people like you bounce in and tell us we must all be Neanderthals and then tell us how you are so well educated and read The Economist and all and then have the nerve to do so with poor grammar and misspelled words you are going to get verbally clocked.  Frankly, claiming to be an educated, sophisticated, elite know-it-all when you can't even use a spell checker is hilarious.

If you now bounce out of here after a few posts, then so be it.  Frankly, I won't miss you.  You are just the latest in a long procession of liberals who bounce in, hurl personal insults as if that is the same as making an argument and then run for the door when somebody states the obvious about your arrogance.  DLTDHYOTWO!
