DMV distributing band-aids.

DMV distributing band-aids.

The idea of Socialized medicine is so patently absurd, it's amazing that so many otherwise seemingly sane people think it's a great idea.

Imagine you're seriously injured and instead of going to a hospital or doctor, you instead went to the DMV and asked for care.  If you manage to survive the wait, and reach the front of the line they offer you a band-aid for your broken leg/stab wound/brain tumor/whatever, but just as they're about to hand it to you** they double check and tell you you need your birth certificate and will have to come back some other time.

Now, imagine this happens as you stagger from loss of blood and are delusional from the pain & fever of your injury/ailment.

Sounds good to me - let's do it! Yaay!

** Is it just me or is this inevitable at the DMV?  They're in the process of handing you your registration or license or tags or whatever, -- you reach out, with trembling hands, thinking "My God, I'm actually going to succeed in accomplishing something here today" -- and then ... ONLY THEN ... do they tell you you don't have some essential documentation.  Is this intentional?  Must you be a Sadist to work at the DMV?
