I have an iPod and I buy music from iTunes i'd rather steal it than buy it from iTunes, but I have no choice.

Sure you have a choice! Sell your iPod to some liberal idiot and buy an mp3 player from SanDisk! They are cheap, hold tons of music and if you lose it you won't scream at yourself for wasting a lot of money on a stupid iPod.

Face it. Do you wanna be "kool" or do you wanna listen to music? I'd rather buy a $25 SanDisk mp3 player and save the $150 for something else. But I am an old codger so who cares.

Winston Smith is a middle-aged, unhealthy character, based loosely on Orwell's own frail body, an underling of the ruling oligarchy, The Party. The Party has taken early 20th century totalitarianism to new depths, with each person subjected to 24 hour surveillance and where people's very thoughts are controlled to ensure purity of the oligarchial system in place. Figurehead of the system is the omnipresent and omnipotent Big Brother.
But Winston believes there is another way.

Amazing! Not that it is good or right or anything. The amazing thing is that this is on the opinion page and not on the front page.

But, I thought McCain fixed campaign finance reform?
Why is it necessary for any candidate to unite the country for "democracy... to work?" Sometimes people disagree and democracy is about people expressing their beliefs and opinions and NOT just all getting along.

Among the Republicans, as Mr. McCain has pulled ahead, he has been shrilly attacked by Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter, who have said they’d rather lose the White House than have a nominee who does not pass all of their litmus tests. That is not the way democracy is supposed to work. Their claim that Mr. McCain is not a conservative (based largely on his willingness to actually talk to Democrats) is ludicrous, but it’s damaging to a party bloodied by eight years of the politics of George Bush and Karl Rove.
There has been much wrong with this campaign: too much money spent on advertising, too many soft-money donations. There is still a chance, at least, to save the race from leaving the country even more divided than in the Bush years. Any candidate, and any party, presuming to unite this country must first unite their own. That is how democracy is supposed to work.

Funny, I Thought that We lived in a Constitutional Republic. .... But then I also wrongly Believed that That Constitution Limited Federal Authority. Who Knew? Surely not the Original Signers. Not The Individual States. Me thinks that We ended up with Hamilton's Vision of a Hidden Monarchy, Protected by the Illusion of Functional Bureaucracy. Either that or some Quantom Chaos Factor has brought Us into the Twilight Zone.
A long time ago, a Great Patriot suggested that the place to address Abuse Originating at The Federal Level, is not at The Federal Level, or Through It at all. The Federal Power being Corrupted by a said Offense would be incapable of Justly Resolving a Dispute.
The Place to Resolve Abuses by The Federal Government, Starts at State Level. First Individually, Then In Number, Challenge Userpation. Constitutional Amendment has been Too Disregarded. Federal Power and Federal Power to Interpret needs to be Limited. The Power of Federal Agencies to Dictate, rather than Legislate Through Consent, Needs to be Addressed.
I humbly suggest that a Good way to Measure the Success of a Civilization is How Well It Teaches Reason To It's Members, Rather than Teaching Conditioned Response.
