Today is the 63rd anniversary of the start of the Battle of the Bulge. More than 250,000 American soldiers fought off everything the Nazi's had to throw at them during the coldest European winter in more than 35 years.
More than 19,000 American soldiers lost their lives defending and then re-liberating eastern Belgium in bitter conditions, often without adequate supplies. Many tens of thousands more were wounded.
Take a minute to remember and honor the tens of thousands of vets still living and give that moment of silence to the approximatley 1,000 WW2 vets who failed to answer reveille today and now rest far from the sound of the guns they once moved toward in order to defeat a different cruel threat to their nation's liberty.
God bless our soldiers everywhere!
He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire.
