The Gross National Debt:

Newspaper Revitilization Act

Newspaper Revitilization Act

Postby SoldiersMum » 03/24/09, 4:12 pm

This morning, Senator Cardin (D), introduced a new bill in the Senate.  The bill is designed to turn Newspapers into non-profit organizations (5013C orgs) where they will not have to pay taxes.  The stipulation is that they can't endorse a candidate.  They can report up the ying yang in support of one but can't outright endorse one.

This bill has gone to committee.  It is too new to get the number.  When I have more info, I'll post it.  Suffice it to say, this bill just enables the newspapers to stay in business with business as usual.  I'm sure the NY Times is chomping at the bit to not have to pay taxes.

Plutarch warned, "The real destroyer of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and benefits."
