What possible interpretation of SB.200 could lead to a ban of the distribution of the [I]BIBLE??????

You can't possibly believe that would happen. You just can't. I don't believe it. You just seem to educated.

Well, then explain to me McCain-Feingold?  Explain "Kelo?"  Explain to me how handguns were banned from DC for 32 years?  Explain how judges in California and Massachussetts can twist those two constitutions to "discover" the "right" of homosexual marriage there?

No rational person could reach the decisions made in these instances based on what the documents and facts in question actually said.  Yet these things happen and continue to happen.  All that matters is what some judge wants the law to mean at that time.

You just seem too naive....

Yeah...Treeofliberty....you are obviously a bit younger than I am.  I was around for the "gun registration" laws that would never violate the second amendment.  It sneaked in just like this law.  Chipping away at our liberty and precious freedoms.  Before long gun confiscation was going on...

Even now the Supreme Court has held that religious speech is not protected under the first amendment...

Right.

I'm naive.

You're convinced that Congress is going to ban the most widely distributed religious tome in America.

Based on a law that doesn't implicate that at all. Not even a bit.

That is INSANITY

It is the ultimate exercise in naivety.  It's foolish paranoia.

Do you people honestly think the Supreme Court Justices want to ban the Bible? Are you out of your minds?

See here's the problem I'm seeing.

Someone posts something that is clearly erroneous. Someone else comes in and says "wait, be rational"

And the response is to get outlandishly irrational.

X=Y

No no, X=X

Your English comprehension skills seem to be impaired.  I have been talking about what the courts do when they "make up laws" by "interpreting" them any way they see fit at any particular time.  Of course, Congress keeps passing laws like McCain-Feingold that clearly violate our rights.  But, it is the courts that do the most damage.

No, I don't think the congress would pass a law banning the Bible.  I think they would pass some muddle-headed, ambiguous piece of tripe that most of them didn't bother to read first.  And then the courts would decide that the Bible violated some aspect of that law and thus could not be displayed in a Motel 6.  And there you go.

There are Christian pastors in Australia who have been charged with criminal offenses for READING THE KORAN!  (http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53526).  It can happen here.  And it will happen through the courts because they will interpret "hate speech" laws how they wish regardless of what the law says.

No, not all of them.  But, I can't tell you for certain about 5 of them.  I am pretty sure at least 4 of them would gladly limit freedom of speech and freedom of religion to protect a given class of people against being "offended."  It won't matter to those 4 justics that my right to offend people is protected by the constitution.

Ah, I think I see your problem.  You think this is an algebra class.

No, this is a discussion of how intolerant of religion the United States government has become in spite of the fact that they are required by law to protect religious freedom in this nation.

But, if you like algebra just remember a^2 + b^2 = c^2.  That has always been one of my favorites.

See what I mean? The tried and the true!  First the unfounded assertion that the law could not be used to ban the Holy Bible...followed by blanket assertion that anyone thinking that is paranoid.

How stupid to they think we are?

It is important to remember that the fact we are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't all out to get us!

The Court has never, and will never, come close to a ban on a religious text. At least not if intelligent, free men and women hold Government to a strong standard of scrutiny. As a free people, we must hold our legislators accountable for their actions and never simply "fall in line," especially if there are guns involved.

Of course, you could always just march in step to the Patriot act singing Toby Keith at the top of your lungs - and then if someone takes your bible away (still a laughable concept) you'll deserve it.
