I am about to abandon Facebook as I have every gay friend of mine last week calling me out for joining a group and becoming a "Sarah Palin fan" to this wacko high school guy (that I have not seen in literally 20 years) sending me private messages questioning my political views!  Initially, I responded to this guy in VERY general terms regarding my political views, now today he has sent me the message I pasted below.  Not only do I not have the time to research all of the lies he makes, but thought I would go to a forum where there may be informed conservatives that can help me in my reply.  I would just let it go (as there is NO use in arguing with him), BUT I am sick of his bogus claims (not to mention his disparaging remarks) and I think he needs someone to challenge him!!!  Any help for any point would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Interesting political views....Yes, both political parties are 'wall street' corporate dominated but as far as 'redistribution of wealth' it seems to me the Republican just redisribute it to the corporations...as far as 'smaller govt' I guess you are aware that under Bush & the Repubs he put corporate testing in public schools, gave 500 BILLION to Pharmo companies, & of course has expanded the Military budget to over 650 Billion a yr..more than the rest of the entire world combined!...
'Fear we are headed toward socialism'...are you a rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly listener?...what's wrong with 'Socialism'?..you are aware in Europe that folks have 8 weeks paid vacation a year & free health care(& maybe pay 5% more taxes)...My brother just got laid off & had not had a paid vacation in 3 yrs...my cousin had a sick child w cancer & is in debt for life over the medical bills...the only thing to be 'bleak' about is 'climate change/global warming'...very REAL & scary..(the artic ocean may melt in 5 yrs & it reflects as much as 50% of Suns heat)...You are aware that after Jimmy Carter was defeated Ronald Reagan took the Solar Panels off the Whilte House & cut Funding for alternative energy by 80%?...and that with the Repugs in power from 1994-2006 in Congress that they had a total of 3 'sham' hearing on global warming..& with Bush-Cheney/Corporate Oil men in power the US is the ONLY nation not to ratify the first step of the Kyoto Protocal Treaty on Global Warming...and that although McCain says he belives in man-induced Climate Change he picked a vp who says we need to 'study' it more?!!(& thinks its okay to shoot wolves & bears from airplanes)

The actual logic of your response is really not that important. Just use as many for these empty buzzwords and phrases as many times as possiable, and make sure it makes at least some point, however unclear. In fact, the more unclear, the better! Just sound positive!

Change your email address, your home phone number and your cell phone number.  Move if  you have to.  If you do not want to move, then change your name, dye your hair and speak with an accent.    This last is not that extreme, i have used it myself.   Either send him a faked obituary notice or the next time he calls your cell or home phone, in your best accent tell him you died in a terrible accident.     

You do not want to be friends with someone like that.  They will not be happy until they make you as miserable as they are.   dump him and do it quick.

You cannot challenge someone who states, "What's wrong with socialism," and have a reasonable chance of making headway. He is entrenched. It's your choice, but ask yourself if beating your head against the wall is really worth it.

what's wrong with 'Socialism'? - it doesn't work. it never has and europe's economy is not "socialism." socialism, like its cousin communism, cannot coexist with capitalism and what the "world economy" is demonstrating is that capitalism is vastly more successful and pushes aside socialism and communism with either the increase of wealth or disparity of wealth between neighboring nations. thus russia and china. there's no going back and at this stage of the game socialism and communism are theoretical relics of the industrial revolution. one point that can be garnered from your friend's perspectives is that social spending is a very important part of capitalism, as are volunteerism and charity. your friend could place more meaningful parameters around his arguments were he more read, starting with say the treatise of john adams. then he could ask you relevant questions with respect to the balance between social and capital spending or investments if you will, and challenge the balance in this country with perhaps more effect. but hanging onto relic theory is, i don't know, bohemian or hollywood or something.

more generally your friend sounds like a person that you cannot persuade through intellectual exchange, is perhaps compulsive, and may bring an agenda that is more reaching than just your vote. i don't really have this problem for some reason, people don't approach me compulsively and especially when i ask them to stand-down. but i'm a man. were i a women, i might consider politely asking this person to stop sending personal emails and, if it didn't stop, involve the law. i have two daughters and cannot imagine the day when guys pester them this way. scary stuff.

So *you* are the guy the still believes Obama is a Muslim!  It's great to meet you!  I heard you were still out there somewhere.

Rat.   It is a suspicion.  Obama has said that for the past 20 years, Rev Wright has been his spiritual mentor.  I would like to know what Barack was doing in the first 20 years.  We do know that he was in a muslim school and he had to learn the koran.  He has said that the muslim call to prayer in the morning is one of the most beautiful sounds he has ever heard.   What does Barack mean in arab?   Do you know.   I guess i'll go look it up but just lately a prominent muslim said that barack will be the 'mule' that will bring the US to sharia.     Muslim in arab countries are looking forward to his becoming president.   Does this not raise any suspicions in your mind at all?   I don't know for sure if he is a muslim, or a backslidden muslim or what. But it disturbs me when he says things like 57 states, when WE don't have 57 states but the arab states do.   When he slips and says 'my muslim faith'.   I saw that interview.  I realize the context of the remarks but i am also aware of a little thing called a freudian slip.

personally speaking obama being a muslim doesn't concern me. its the observation that obama is trying to hide his religious convictions that is concerning. begs the question of whether i would abandon Christ and pretend to be a muslim to run for office somewhere in the middle east. i can't relate to person that would abandon their faith to get a job. any job. if obama kneels to ala twice a day, that's fine with me. what concerns me is that he's not being honest or forthright. he's hiding a lot of stuff about himself. and his message of change has too many historical precedents that lead to catastrophic consequences.

right now we just need to get our economy back in order.
