MoveOn.org is running some new election ads. One features a young mother holding her infant son, Alex. She talks about her son for several seconds then says, "John McCain says we will be in Iraq for 100 years. I wonder if he is counting on Alex. If so, you can't have him." (My quote may not be exact.)

Granted this is a ridiculously theatrical ad. But, even the ridiculous requires rebuttal at times.

Mr. Soros I want to ask you a what if. In 1775, what if American mothers had collectively said, not my son?

No, that can't be.  GOPER said that McCain-Feingold had fixed the problem of "soft money" in federal elections and that the only 527s left were small and insignificant.  Moveon.org therefore cannot possibly be a factor in this election.  He said "official studies" have proved this point so there is nothing more to discuss.  Move on.  There is nothing here to see.
