A moderate living, liberal thinking, conservative valued, republican registered American.

This is my first time ever on any site that I was willing to make a post.  Have looked at many of what is out there and find the majority of them just a place to call each other names and write nasty notes back and forth. I am hoping that this forum will give me a place to view the thoughts of others and a place to put my thoughts in view of others.
I sometimes wonder, actually on a daily basis wonder, if the entire population of this country is aware and realizes the that this country is poised on the edge of falling apart or becoming even greater than we have ever been. It will be our votes in the elections, not just presidential but on the local and state levels as well that will put   people into the positions of power that can will make us or break us.
Getting up every morning and going about our business, daily routines and general life without paying attention to true person we put in office is what brought us to the state we are in now.  I just hope that enough people wake up to the serious problems that are ahead of us, make the decision that they can no longer rely on the established media to tell them what is really happing in this country and the rest of the world.
Research, Check and Verify.  Did they do what they said they would do?  Did they vote how they said they would vote?  Did they change their mind about something, which is ok unless it was just to get another group of people to vote for them? Or did they find out the information that was given to them was inaccurate or it is now outdated and a different approach to the problem is needed. Can they admit when a mistake is made and take ownership for their part in it. Who are their friends and advisors that help them shape the policies that we have to live with?
Honesty, Integrity, A willingness to really look at an issue and how what you are advocating is in the interest of the people of this country, not just a few select groups or just yourself is the type of person I want in position of power.
I hope that I will find some other people on this site that will give me hope that there are people still out there who understand what is at stake.
Will this country flounder or flourish?
It is really up to us.
