Rat,

I'm not happy with the bail out, as I think it will make things worse in the long run.

I don't understand why are you dissing Bush.   Aren't you in agreement with his fix to this problem?

Which party do you think created this financial crisis in the first place?

...and now they are not only planning on bailing out the lending companies, they are planning on bailing out those who took out and loans and also people with high credit card balances.

Let's get real here.  In 2003 Bush tried to reign in Fannie and Freddie, he failed and in 2005 the Republicans tried it again.  They were stopped by Chris Dodd and Barney Frank leading the Dems against changing anything.  Now, you claim it is Bush's fault.  The Democrats hold complete responsibility for the mortgage mess.  BJ Clinton was the major impetus and the Dems have aided and assisted the lenders at every point. They, the Dems, see it as the way to move us even further into socialism by nationalizing these financial institutions.   These people are also pushing the bailout as the means of fixing what they created in the first place.   Republicans are going along to ward off a run on the banks and a depression.  It's amazing how Bush gets the blame for everything under the sun..heck, he's probably even responsible for the fact that the sun hasn't entered cycle 23 and hasn't had any sunspots for an entire month.

The Govt needs to get out of the way.  Capitalism needs to work its magic.  Chris Dodd and Barney Frank, Chairmen of the Senate and House Banking Committees, need to go.

My opinion on whether the bailout is meaningless - I'm not the Republican president.  What I'm trying to understand is why conservatives always say they are for the market solving these problems - and yet here comes the very Republican Bushies to the rescue of AIG.  I'm convinced that he's bailing it out because a lot of rich people's money is at stake - in other words, that he's only a capitalist until the money of the rich is endangered.  I'd like someone to try to convince me otherwise.  Seriously.

Rat, you are confusing the words Republican and conservative.  Bush is a Republican, but not a conservative.

Bush is almost indistinquishable from a liberal when it comes to spending taxpayer's money.  I would think you would be happy with the massive bailout plan - the liberal members of congress seem to be happy with it.

You seem to have a prejudice against rich people.   Would you like to see rich people lose their money?

On what are you basing this because, honestly he strikes me as more of neo-con that a Republican.  He came into office touting fiscal responsibility and small government - yet he has done exactly the opposite.  He's against abortion and for a more conservative supreme court.  On what basis are you claiming that he's not a conservative?  Cuz he doesn't seem like a moderate and he's for sure no liberal.
