McCain/Clinton 2008

Postby paleocon on 06/03/08, 2:34 pm

A caller recently broached the subject of a McCain/Clinton ticket in 2008 again.  I have seriously wondered if this has crossed McCain's mind.  Juan McCain is totally infatuated with Hillary Clinton.   He approached John French Kerry in 2000 to discuss serving on his ticket.  He can't stop crossing the isle to work with Dems and in fact can't seem to stand working with GOP Senators.

HRC could bring scads of money!  She is the ideological soul mate of John McCain.  It would split the Dem party.  If he is considering Bloomberg then Hillary obviously makes sense to McCain.  She would clearly be in a position to demand the nomination from both parties in 2012!

Frankly, this is scary!  And crazy and just the sort of thing a maverick and a woman spurned would come up with.  Hold on to your hats over the next few days.  Obama had better have a very good offer for Hillary or John McCain may!

This ticket would ensure Obama wins because he will lose what is left of the conservative base as well as tons of moderate Republicans.  Is McCain that stupid?  Yep, I'll just bet he is.  McCain believes his own press.  He's the Maverick.  He's the one who'll unite everyone.  Bullsh*t.  The only way of uniting is for everyone to go left...duh..even Ray Charles could have seen that.  They'll have to put us all into reeducation camps and kill or institutionalize those of us who they can't indoctrinate.
We've got to do a better job of getting across that America is freedom--freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of enterprise. And freedom is special and rare. It's fragile; it needs protection.

Reading the story on McCain's VP process I found a link inviting me to submit my opinion to the McCain campaign on who his VP should be.  I thought I'd tell the old RINO just what I thought.

You can tell them what you think by going here:  http://capwiz.com/sicminc/mailapp/

Here are my thoughts on the matter.

Re: McCain's Vice President

Dear Mr. Culvahouse:

As a fellow American, I'm writing to let you know that I firmly expect Senator McCain to continue to stick his finger in the eye of conservatives.

A true conservative on the ticket would be the only way to get conservatives to support Senator McCain. However, it is obvious that Senator McCain could not care less about conservatives.

I think the state of fundraising by the McCain campaign is indicative of his rejection of conservatives and conservatives' rejections of him. Witness the 9.9 million Senator McCain raised in April. Great job or raking in the dough.

Even though I am a lifelong republican I have no plans to vote for a RINO like Senator McCain. But, I believe it would help him with some conservatives if he chose a staunchly pro-life and pro-marriage, fiscally conservative, pro-gun rights, and limited government advocate.

Of course, since McCain himself doesn't agree strongly with most of these beliefs I have no reason to expect him to choose such a running mate. In fact I suspect Senator McCain will choose either Mike Bloomberg or Hillary Clinton for their fundraising potential and to further alienate conservatives.

Just my two cents but that is what I expect from him at this point.

Sincerely,
PaleoCon

Oh this is not Necessary! John McCain is a model consevative! You need to calm down, and look at the stakes of this election. What about National Security and Heath Care? McCain would never pick Clinton, and they are not the same.
Join your friend phxcon, who now is proudly supporting John McCain, The Republican Nominee, for president!!!

Far Righters supported Richard Nixon, Jerry Ford, and Bush Sr. and Jr., all moderates. Now you should support John McCain and Compromise!!!

Excuse me while I attempt to contain myself.  That is the funniest thing I have heard in years!  Model Conservative?  That is good if you mean he is a plastic replica intended to resemble a conservative when assembled.

I am quite calm, thank you.  I know precisely what is at stake in this election.  The nation has been asked to choose a Marxist like Obama or a big government, anti-capitalist, anti-free speech, open border socialist like McCain.  Or we can choose a third party candidate.  I am opting for the third party candidate because I don't vote for socialists or Marxists.
