When President Bush declared war on terrorists in 2001, Spain had a Conservative government which, wanting to act as an honorable ally, sent a regiment of well trained troops to Irak. In March of 2003 a new government was to be elected, and a week before the elections all the polls showed that the Conservatives would win re-election. Then Al-Qaeda placed some bombs in trains in Madrid and killed almost 200 people, declaring that the bombings were in retaliation for Spain's participation in the war. The Socialist (Liberal) Party movilized all its minions to protest the killings BLAMING THE DEATHS ON THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY AND THE U.S.A. , and won the election on the promise of pulling out of Irak. For its new government, the Socialist Party chose a Minister of Defense who would later declare "I'd rather die than have to defend myself". The day Vice-President Cheney learned about the withdrawal of Spanish troops he cracked a joke about the mythical Spanish sense of honor, and I've never felt more ashamed in my life, folks. Up to that day I had been happy being an alien in America and believing that liberals were inoffensive fools; that day I became an American and a rabid anti-Liberal. (Thanks, Vice-President Cheney, for your lack of diplomatic finesse.)
I've heard Rev-my-ass Jeremiah Wright , Obama's spiritual leader, blame the 9/11 attacks on the U.S., and no matter what Obama says in order to win the election, he and his ilk are as cowardly as that majority of Spaniards who voted for the Socialists. Liberals, for all their woosiness, are very dangerous. AND THEY ARE WINNING SO FAR.
