But it IS possible to like the soldiers and dislike the war. I have some misinformed liberals in my family who dislike the war (and are smart enough to keep their fool mouths shut about it), but still send letters / support / love to our fighter pilot uncle. They certainly DO support the troops, even if they disagree with what the troops are doing.

The American government does all sorts of crazy stuff sometimes. I don't always agree with it, but that doesn't make me anti-America, dig?

I support the war in Iraq although I believe that it has been mismanaged in several key ways.  However, I do accept that some reasonable people may not support the war.  

That said, communist, hard left democrats like Clinton and Obama and Edwards and Kerry, et al  hate the military, hate America and hate the troops.  Communist, hard left democrats are not reasonable people by any definition of the word.  They lack the capacity for reason and when challenged immediately resort to ad hominem attacks.  Their lack of support of the war is based on a deep-seated hatred of America and the principles upon which this great nation is founded.

I wonder how Dean and the libs would react to a non-government application of the Fairness Doctrine. Every time a network shows the new DNC ad, or CNN plays a video of Americans being shot by terrorists, we must also see the Towers collapsing. The Pentagon burning. The blackened hole in the ground at Shanksville, PA. USS Cole on fire. Smoke pouring from the embassy in Tanzania. The ruin of the Khobar Tower. Smoke-blackened faces rushing out of the World Trade Center. Lockerbie, Scotland burning. The headstones of U.S. Marines killed in Beirut. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard storming our embassy in Tehran. Ski-masked terrorists murdering Israeli Olympic athletes. With a narrator intoning, "This is what the Islamofacists will do to each and every one of you, if given the chance."

Wake up! The United States did not start this war. W. did not start this war. Dick Cheney did not start this war. Islamofacism declared jihad on the world more than 3 decades ago. Iraq was a state sponsor of terrorism. Afghanistan was a state sponsor of terrorism. Iran, Syria, Lebanon, N. Korea, Sudan, are state sponsors of terrorism.

Liberals will say prove it. Jesus, apply some intellect and connect the dots. Has anyone ever seen footage of Hitler killing a Jew; Mao executing a dissident; Pol Pot walking the Killing Fields; Andropov handing V. I. Ramirez an envelope of money. No. But, we know that these monsters were responsible.

This is a religious war and it is not going away. You can't wish it away. You can't run from it, because they will chase you right back here and kill anyway. You can't negotiate an end to it, because the enemy will not let it end, for them the war ends when ALL non-believers are dead. If you think leaving Iraq will end this war, you are delusional. All that will change is the front on which the war is being fought.

If Howard Dean wants to politicize the war, fine. That blade cuts both ways.

Right on the money.  We have been at war with at least a large section of Islam since 1979 when Iran seized our embassy for the first time.  Each year since then they have attacked again and again on more and more fronts.  The war reached our shores in 1993 when Islamofascists bombed the WTC for the first time.  

Largely, the US has not responded to the repeated attacks over the years.  It would have been better if we had.  Maybe some sharp military acts early on would have hurt the nations sponsoring the war against us would have realized it wasn't worth the cost.  But, largely, those same nations have never suffered for their actions.  This changed under Bush.  But, the Iranian and Syrians have not yet suffered from the consequences of their actions.  I suspect that will change in the near future though I suspect it will be more costly for us now than it would have been in 1979.

This is a relgious and cultural war.  We ARE at war with a significant portion of Islam.  Our only options are submit and lose our freedoms or defeat them and retain our freedoms.  The only thing we control right now is the realestate where the war is fought and I would rather have it fought there than here.

Uh, I know why you do it.  I am old, not a dinosaur.  You must get really passionate and carried away with it sometimes.  It can be overused and I think that looks silly.  But it doesn't bother me.
