Jews and Muslims

Jews and Muslims

Postby Clay Barham on 10/23/07, 1:48 pm

The Muslim population is approximately 1,200,000,000, or 20%of the world population. They have received seven Nobel Prizes: The GlobalJewish population is approximately 14,000,000, or about 0.02% of the worldpopulation.  One hundred twenty-nine of them have received NobelPrizes.

That is 7 out of 1.2 billion against 129 out of 1.4 million.

There are 1,000 times more Muslims than thereare Jews. 129,000 Jews would receive Nobel Prizes compared to 7 for the Muslims,if the Jews and Muslims were equal in global population. What a contrast!

Those who are free to think, contribute positivehuman value.

They are more creative thanindividuals who are required, by their faith, to submerge their individualityforever into the crowd.

Are Jews brainwashing their children in military training camps, teaching themhow to blow themselves up and cause maximum deaths of innocent Muslims andother non-Jews?

Do Jews hijack planes, kill athletes at the Olympics or blow themselves up in restaurants? Havethe Jews destroyed mosques and churches? Did Jews traffic slaves or have theirleaders call for murdering all non-Jews in order to crush all faiths andbeliefs not of their making?

If Muslims investedmore in individual skill training and education for their children, to impartgreater knowledge, and less in blaming Jews for all their problems, they too wouldachieve more Nobel Prizes.

If theMuslims put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence.

If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel.

The conflict between Muslims and everyone else demonstrates the differencesbetween individuals being free and individuals immersed into the community pool.

Most cultures and traditions rise out ofa common ideal where a small elite rule the masses as the only way societiescan survive.

Individual freedom is a newideal practiced generally in one place, America.

The elite, defending their quest for total power, war on the concept of individual freedom.

Kings, emperors, dictators, mullahs, imams and ayatollahs all share thesame goal, regardless of their professed beliefs.

They are a self-appointed elite in whom thepower to manage the many is to be invested.

Their belief-system is but the carriage used for the masses to justifythe elite’s assumption of power.

Godcreated individuals, not groups, tribes or nations.

Men who demand power to shape and manage lifecreate those things, and use them to enslave.

As I said as a follow-up to my other post.  I never intended that this forum become an Anti-Muslim board.  Nevertheless, I think it's important to get everyone's opinion on Islam - as it is the root of the War on Terror.

I agree with the point you're making, but, given the Nobel Commissions recent picks for the Peace Prize, I'm not sure that relying on how many Jews have won vs. how many Muslims, makes your point most strongly.  In short, if I were to win a Nobel Prize (in any category), I'd wipe my ass with it.

The point is still valid though.  Only a free society allows the type of thought, investigation, and invention that allows the human race to advance.  Repressive Muslim society is a bar to this kind of inquiry and creativity.

Many people will cite the scientific advances made by Muslims - generally in the 9th to 11th century - as proof that Islam is not a repressive, regressive, and luddite culture.  Few people do deeper investigation to discover that most advances made by Muslims, even during their heyday, were adoptions or perfections of ideas generated by the peoples that they conquered, and then claimed as their own.  People cite Alchemy, and Algebra as advances made by Muslims because the names of these disciplines are derived from Arabic.  Of course, Algebra and other higher mathematics were adopted from the original Greek thinkers and was only perfected and systematized by Muslims.  I don't know the history of alchemy, but I'd be shocked to learn that various forms of alchemy did not pre-date Muslim conquests.  Another "famous" advance was the naming of many of the stars which we know by the same names today.  As if no culture had ever seen or named them before.  Can you imagine that the ancient Egyptians whose religion and entire society was guided by the stars and their movements in the heavens didn't have names for the major visible stars?

Suggesting that Islam made great contributions to human knowledge, science, and invention is like suggesting that the Japanese invented radio or t.v. because they miniaturized and perfected them.

The only contributions of Islam to mankind are blood and bondage.

The History Channel recently did a piece on Islamic Art and Architecture, wherein they pointed to the large Mosque in Instanbul, what we once knew as St Sophia built by Constantine.  They went further, to a period before the birth of Jesus to point out Islamic Art.  Wit disinformation like that, how can we beat 'em?  I agree on the Nobel Prize, aricularly the Peace and Literature side, but Medicine and Physics are a different story, and most oof the prizes going to Jews were for Physics.

It seems to me that you are firm in the belief that Jews are smarter than the Muslims.

My friend,  I choose to remain dubious.

Once upon a time, in Sahara,  I was sitting under the shade of palm trees, next to a beautiful green oasis, surrounded by a company of wise old men. Suddenly, the oldest man of Arab origin stood up to make a statement. He said that Arabs were shrewder than the rest of the world.

And, later, much, much later, back in NYC, I started keeping company with a gorgeous French woman who used to daily remind me that French were a cut above the rest. She used to stand up and salute Concord every time it flew over us lying at Jones beach  in Cony Island.

In the Bronx,  I had a friend from Ghana who times and times again would say sotto voce  that the smartest people lived in Africa. After all, that's where the civilization began, he was told.

One day, I got tired of all this so I set off on a voyage. Good winds and  the waves of fortune took me far, far away to the Far East where I met many many Chinese who told me they were more hard working than the Germans. Hm, I thought to myself.

Europe is my birth-place and soon I happened to be in the midst of it. Glasses in our hands and while listening to Strauss from the deck orchestra in the background, crusing along the beautiful blue Danube seemed utterly romantic. The blond, blue-eye Frauling kept whispering many sweet words of nothingness. I forgot many of those words but I do remember when she told me she considered herself better, or should I say smarter than the Japanese.

Akemi was quite a woman and we met on a  train headed for Greece. I was going to Istanbul and she was on her final leg of her journe through Europe. We said good-bye and never thought we would meet again. But lady luck was on our side and we met again in NY. We dated for a summer. She told me over and over that Japanese were smarter than Americans.

How could they be, I kept saying to myself. Americans always keep saying they are the best.

Well, so do the Russians. As a matter of fact they even started using the term 'Homo Soveticus' in their anatomy atlas.

I guess you get the point, my friend. What I am trying to say is:

Every nation on Earth thinks it's better that the rest of the world. The truth is that every nation, every race and every religion is beautiful. We are all smart, hard-working and creative. We all poses intelect, a faculty superior to other species. We  are like flowers. If you have plenty of nutrition, water and sunshine, every flower on the planet will blloom and prosper.

Thank you for your attention.

One more thing, my friend.

Albania is the poorest European country. Right after Moldova. Dirt poor! 90 %  of people don't have two pennies to rub together. As poor as Mother Teresa. Did you know Mother Teresa was Albanian? She was born in my hometown Skopje, Macedonia. And she went to elementary school with my grandfather. Anyway, do you know which country in the whole wide big-ass world has the highest number of Mercedes Benz per capita? Bingo! You guessed it right! Albania. The saying goes:there is one life to live. You might as well live it in stile, damn it.

What I am trying to say is....wait a minute..what am I trying to say?...
Oh, yeah..I got it, I knew it's going to come to me....patient, patient, patient...Patient is a virtue.

So, as I was saying...Albania during the time of communist dictator Enver Hoxha had 50.000 scientists working for the govt. Almost all of them got their PhD's outside Albania. One more time: 50.000 SCIENTISTS!!! Considering Albania in 1975 had 3.2 million inhabitants according to the national census in 1980, that's huge. But only Mother Teresa got Nobel Peace Price and she is the second in the Balkan to received that honor. Ivo Andric, a Bosnian writer, was first to received Nobel in literature with his most famous book ' Bridge over Drina'. In 2007 the honor in literature went to Orhan Pamuk, as we all know it. Not that he deserved it, but he got it because he criticized Turkey over the Armenian issue. If one writer deserves Nobel, (in my humble opinion, and most of you agree, I mean you have to, how could you not),it should be: Ismail Kadare. The greatest European writer. He is from Albania. ( Have you seen that episode from 'Cheers' when Coach teaches Sam geography lessons about Albania and Adriatic ?) Now he lives in Paris. France gave him political asylum. He has been on the list for quite some time. Last year he just received an honorary doctorate from University of Trinity in Ireland. I'm sure he will get it next year....patient,patient,patient....

Please don't take this massage the wrong way, after all I am your friend.

Don't forget history. Albania is the only country in the world where the number of Jews was higher after WWII than at the beginning of the war. The people of Israel know that and and they all are grateful. That's why when Milosevic started slaughtering Albanians, Israel was the first country who came to the rescue by setting up camps in neighboring Macedonia for Albanians to flee.

Thank you! I got to go....I'm going to the gym....

Nobody said Jews are smarter. The point is that Jewish culture allows them more freedom to be creative and invent things, and to make advancements for people other than themselves.

The other day I was watching a video on YouTube from Palestinian TV. It was a children's variety show with an obvious knockoff of Mickey Mouse. The show mocked the English language and told viewers that all civilized thought comes from Islam. No, we don't see any dichotomy there - using western technology and a western character to mock western people - didn't you know an Arab invented TV?

That's the point Clay and Eyas are trying to make. The ME has a real bad habit of borrowing western technology while simultaneously claiming the west is inferior. I suspect they did the same thing back in the dark ages.

Clay says,' Jews are better than Muslims and Eyas says Islam contributed only blood'.

OK. Whatever. We are intellectuals having an intelligent conversation. This is not a Jerry Springer Show.

Let's move on...

Clay further wrote,

'The History Channel did a piece on Islamic Art and Architecture, where in they pointed to the large Mosque in Istanbul, what we once knew as St Sophia built by Constantine. He says, 'How can we beat 'em?'

BEAT WHO, WHY, WHEN ?!

Why not APPROACH another culture, race or religion, greet, meet and try to understand them?

I was also watching the History Channel one day where they were talking about Hindus in India. They were celebrating a festival where thousands and thousands of Hindus were using thousands and thousands of gallons of milk and honey to wash the statue of a bull!!!

WOW! I said to myself!

In India 800,0000,000 people live below the poverty line with only a $1 a day. Yet, on the TV I was watching a statue of a bull being washed in milk and honey. Milk and honey was flowing like a river....Some of the participants were medical doctors who travelled all the way from US to witness the ceremony.

I was thinking of what should I think. I was trying to understand them. And this is what I thought:

It's their religion they've been practicing for ages. No matter how odd it may look to me, I will never be able to look at it in the same way a Hindu looks at it. Where I come from we have a  story my grandfather told me as I was growing in his lap.

Once upon a time, there was a Gypsy who had a very ugly wife but he love her very much. They were very happy. A neighbour asked him one day, ' My good neighbour, your wife is so ugly, how can you love her?'

The Gypsy replied,' It may look so to you, but you don't have my eyes.'

[SIZE=9pt]I hope you are wrong in quoting The History Channel referring to Islamic Art before the birth of Jesus.  Islam was founded by Mohammed around 615AD.  That would seem to indicate a dearth of Islamic art in the period before the birth of Jesus which happened sometime between 7BC and 3AD.
[SIZE=9pt]
[SIZE=9pt]Frankly, The History Channel gets a lot of stuff wrong.  They are really now the History of Kooky Theories Channel.  Every other show is about Nostradamus, the JFK Conspiracy, UFOs or Ice Roads across Alaska.
