I have given some additional thought to this question and thought I would offer this consideration as a modest proposal.
I came to this site to engage in thoughtful discussion. I have often been sidetracked by what can only be called completely idiotic posts. I am not interested in getting sidetracked any longer. I'd rather engage in meaningful discussion rather than spend my time responding to absolutely moronic rants or kooky conspiracy theories.
Rather than respond to every leftist rants and kooky conspiracy theories I suggest we all hold our pen until we decide if a given newcomer is indeed a thoughtful person interested in meaningful discussion or simply one who wants to rant and incite conservatives. Really, it shouldn't be that difficult to discern. In most cases, one or two sentences from the newcomer will be sufficient.
Once we have discerned a person's intent it is a simple matter to add that person to our "Foe List" which hides their comments from us in most situations. Once we have done that, we can simply respond to their post with the fact that we have no interest in speaking with them. That will either lead them to reconsider their rants or leave.
I am tired of listening to infantile, poorly reasoned, incomprehensible and poorly spelled arguments and would prefer to engage in serious discussions with thoughtful people. Responding to their lunacy distracts us from thoughtful discussions and encourages more trolling by uneducated and ineducable trolls.
Many of these leftist ranters or conspiracy kooks are so far gone that we aren't going to change their minds. Rather than getting drug down into the mud with them it seems to be easier to simply ignore them. They are free to post and we are free to ignore them. Have we the discipline to ignore that which ought to be ignored?
