Greetings from a Liberal NYC Area Jewish Democrat. I found this forum frmo a link on http://www.republicanoperatives.com . Though I am a liberal NYC Area Jewish Democrat, I post on a number of conservative forums, since I actually agree with some conservative ideas.

Hope you find my presence interesting and of benefit.

Welcome JBGUSA!

You're absolutely welcome here!  I'll consider you halfway conservative instead of halfway liberal   .

Looking forward to your thoughts on the issues of the day!!

BTW.. I'm also in NY, just a little further up than you in Dutchess County.

Howdy, neighbor.  I am a NYC Area Conservative Republican, one of two in the area, LOL.  I am married to a NYC semi-liberal Jewish girl from Queens.  I have never understood why most Jews are liberal.  Liberals tend not to be supportive of Israel, where conservatives generally are.  Jewish traditions are conservative by nature; strong family ties, religious holidays, etc.  I realize that, generally speaking, Jews are a charitable and generous people and, given their history, I can understand this.  Having seen how socialism and communism have failed miserably on the world stage, spreading misery and poverty wherever tried, how can so many Jewish people embrace the liberal line?  Liberalism is just the precursor to socialism which always leads to dictatorship.  Can you explain the liberal tendancies of the Jewish people?

Welcome aboard Jarhead.  I've actually been wondering about the answer to that myself!

A Megaditto welcome to JBGUSA and Jarhead to the site!

Jarhead, your question about why Jews tend to be liberal is a good one.  There are probably multiple reasons.

Here is an excellent article by Dennis Prager, and his attempt to answer this question.

Dittohead, thanks for that referral.  I like Dennis Prager.  He's very thoughtful and always on the money.  I'd like to hear a response to my question from a Jewish liberal though, just to see if the answer will be as emotional as Dennis' article is rational.  LOL.

Did you hear the story about someone at the DNC modifying the Rush Limbaugh Wickipedia entry today?  Seems that democRats can't get past high school emotionally, in spite of their "superior" education.  Are there any grownups left in the democRat party?

I sure cannot explain it. Especially in view of the historical evidence. When the socialist or communist revolution does succeed they tend to blame, round up and eliminate the Jewish supporters.

OK, I'll take a stab at explaining it. The Democrats were at the docks at Ellis Island arranging for immigrants to get apartments, jobs, and, not so incidentally, to register them to vote. The Republicans turned up their noses at the Jews. That has never totally ended. GWHB and Baker, in particular, seem to have a real antipathy to Jews as people. Chelsea Clinton, by contrast, is almost "engaged" to a Jew.

The problem is that Jews moved from Europe because they had zero acceptance there, and craved it. The Democrats' apparent concern for their need for a feeling of belonging hit home. Though it may not have been genuine, whoever said symbolism doesn't work? Social exclusion hurts.

Later, many of the pre-neo-Con Republicans and their offspring such as GHWB and Baker continued to show a visceral dislike of Jews and Israel. Eisenhower didn't help things, or for that matter help the West, when he and Dulles pulled the plug on the British-French-Israeli attempt to keep the Suez Canal in civilized hands.

Also, rememeber that Truman recognized Israel, and that Johnson was the only President, the current one included, who did not restrain Israel from winning a true victory when provoked into war. Thus, Democrats have earned a historic loyalty from the Jews. Hopefully Bush has managed to shake that somewhat.
