We will be keeping our core. I can't imagine that Detroit won't be getting rid of a few of their very old players like Chelleos (he was playing for Chicago back when my son was in high school and we were living there.) to make their team even stronger. We will see. We could be losing two of the best, but not Crosbey or Maulkin. Maulkin is our second best offensive player and he never showed up until the 6th game. They said he had the flu and an upper body injury from one of the first games in Detroit. I think he was experiencing a mental problem with being in the finals against the best team in hockey and he still has a language problem being from Russia. He's young but he'll be ok next year.
I never once ever heard any comments here like what you said about your European players and hitting. I actually never heard one bad thing about Detroit from anyone here in Pittsburgh. I believe everyone knew that Detroit was the better team and everyone here is very proud of the Pens and the fact that they made it to the 6th game and very nearly the 7th. Everyone's looking forward to next year.
I've been around hockey for years. My son played his whole life including juniors and college. He's a soldier now. My husband played on the Olympic team back in the dark ages and still holds records at his college from his time there in the 60s. He was drafted by Toronto but decided to join the Air Force because he wanted to fly airplanes. I'm glad to see hockey in Pittsburgh is coming back into the forefront. The Pens got as many TV viewers during this series as the Steelers do. It's a good thing.
