Fairness Doctrine

Fairness Doctrine

Postby dittohead on 06/28/07, 12:46 pm

Since the liberals are all of a sudden so concerned  about the fairness doctrine, why don't they start by 'fixing' the lack of fairness in the radio air ways they already control, National Public Radio.

Ironically,  if they actually made NPR fair and balanced; the ratings would go through the roof.   The down side, however, is that the liberals would then use this as ammunition to 'fix' commercial talk radio which is clearly not broken.

Here are a couple of good synopses on the Fairness Doctrine history.

and latest new stories:

http://news.google.com/news?q=fairness+doctrine&hl=en&um=1&sa=X&oi=news_group&resnum=4&ct=title

This is a very important issue and we cannot sit back because we believe that it would be impossible to bring it back. We must speak up en masse. There are some republicans who have sold their souls and may indeed side with the shortsighted and misdirected liberals who back the resurrection of this fairness doctrine.

If the libs and RINO's didn't like the response they got regarding the amnesty bill, they haven't seen anything yet, if they try to mess with talk radio. Another reason Mrs. Bill Clinton needs to be defeated by landslide. I predict she will.

Good news!

PENCE ANNOUNCES "HOUSE REPUBLICANS UNANIMOUSLY COSPONSOR BROADCASTER FREEDOM ACT"
All House Republicans Cosponsor Bill to Permanently Repeal the Fairness Doctrine

Washington, Aug 8 - Washington, DC—U.S. Congressman Mike Pence announced today that all 202 members of the House Republican Conference are cosponsoring the Broadcaster Freedom Act, a bill that would prevent the Fairness Doctrine from ever being reinstated without an act of Congress. Pence also announced the first democrat cosponsor, John Yarmuth from Kentucky.

Pence’s statement follows:

“Following calls from many in Congress to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine, House Republicans have responded in force. As of today, every Republican in Congress has cosponsored the Broadcaster Freedom Act and millions who cherish the dynamic forum of American talk radio should be thankful.

“House Republicans know that bringing back the Fairness Doctrine would amount to government control over political views expressed on the public airwaves.

“The Broadcaster Freedom Act will prevent the FCC or any future President from reinstating the Fairness Doctrine. This legislation ensures freedom will remain the anthem of our radio airwaves.

“I call on my Democrat colleagues to join me and every House Republican in cosponsoring this important legislation to keep America’s radio airwaves free from censorship.”

This will be a vote to watch! I sure hope it passes.

Perhaps off-topic, but the adherence to conservative values of many in the House, while nearly all Republican Senators have sold their souls, to me is just more evidence that Term Limits are needed - especially for Senators.

Also, this issue is one of the clearest bits of evidence that Democrats despise the U.S. Constitution, and that many so-called Republicans (RINOs) could take it or leave it.
