Drilling in ANWR is not about reducing gas prices

Republicans tried to push thru a bill in the House to drill in Anwar within the last 48 hours.  It was put down by the Dems.

It is time for the American People to rise up and let this Congress know we want the oil in our own country harvested and we want new refineries built, now!!!

Everyone should write to the Rush, Hannity, Glenn Beck, all the Conservative organizations, etc., to encourage them to start a movement.  We stopped the amnesty bill.  We need to let them know we know who is responsible for the price of gas, Congress,  and we want the roadblocks to stop!

The next time you run into a liberal who starts complaining about how Bush is responsible for a failed energy policy, ask them how many BTU's are in a gallon of gasoline (120,000). Ask them how many are in a gallon of E85 (80,000). Ask them how many kilo-watt hours it takes to produce one kilo of hydrogen using electrolosis (67) and at 12 cents a kilo watt hour, thats six dollars and seventy cents for one gallon of gas equivalent. Oh and ask them where they are going to put enough of it in the car to get three hundred miles. Ask them what they are doing to solve that problem.

Why ask? Put them on the defensive. It works every time. Oh and let them know that Bush has been asking Congress to drill in ANWR ever since 2001. Ask them why Nancy Pelosi voted against it. Ask they why the only energy policy that the liberals have ever came up with (CAFE) backfired on us. How you say, well the standard made an exception for light duty trucks which resulted in a mass craving for pimped out trucks and SUV's. Ask them about that.

I have a couple of questions.  1 KG of hydrogen is equal to 1 gallon of gasoline?  How big a tank would you need to hold 12 to 15 KG of hydrogen?  My car and van have gas tanks of around 12 to 15 gallons.

The price of production is significant.  Assuming that innovation cal reduce the cost over time, or that additional energy can be produced at a lower cost in the very long run, what might be the average cost to produce a KG of hydrogen in large-scale production?   Of course, even if they get the price down to 1/2 your estimate it would still cost $3.35 for a KG of hydrogen.

Is America willing to swap $3.75 gallon gas for $6.70 KG hydrogen?  It would only make sense if you accept the fallacy that CO2 contributes to "global warming" which will eventually be demonstrated as ridiculous.

Start drilling.  Either way it is going to take a long time to work out the facts and details on a "hydrogen economy."
