I think I may have heard Rush's first show in the NY Market ... I was struck by his bloated air of self-confidence. Early on, I emailed Rush to correct him on some item (I recall once I was actually wrong). Rush's replies were always modest, warm and personal. Once I described his formula for persona on-air with the word "bluster." Rush did not disagree in his response. It was interesting to me that some of us saw the warmth through the "bluster," but others never got past it. My wife didn't like Rush early on and still doesn't much although she has joined me in my shift to the right. I'm certain Rush played a big part in my shift. (So did Bob Grant ... someone I discovered about the same time).
