Dems have lost it and I love it.

The Democrats took power in 2006 born of a frustrated electorate seeking change. The nation threw a fit and said let's do something different.

Nancy Pelosi et all promised to run things differently.

When they took power, they forgot all about their promises and instead set upon a path to attempt to destroy what was left of the Republican party and President George W Bush. Investigations, committees and witch hunts do not equal leading.

The promised inclusion got thrust aside for payback. All those years of being in the minority apparently created so much angst that when given a chance to lead the Democrats decided to attack instead.

Look at the war funding bill. They knew Bush would NEVER sign that with a set timetable for
withdrawal
of our troops. They put that in there strictly for a game of political gotcha. They got their headlines.

Now we have William Jefferson of Louisiana with 16 indictments (a Congressional record). The people who put this bunch in power are mad, they get the fact that this makes Democrats look quite the hypocrites in the wake of their "culture of corruption" rhetoric.

Talk about your corruption, Wisconsin very own Dave Obey wants to now slide pork projects into bills after they have been voted on! Whew, now that is some real responsibility. Well they did say they would change earmark spending. They did, they made it sleazier, something I did not think was possible.

In an amazingly short time Congress has actually acquired an approval rating LOWER than the President's.  (Dick Cheney's approval numbers are twice Dingy Harry's!)

Look, right here in my home state of Wisconsin,  Governor Jim Doyle campaigned on no tax increases then turned around and put forth $1.75 billion in new tax and fee increases. Wisconsin Democrats have disagreed with precisely NONE of Doyle's tax increases. That will play right into the hands of the Republicans in the next election.

My advice to the right, keep letting the left sew their oats. The more they act like themselves the less likely the American voters are to vote them back into office.

Well said...

The problem is the people will never see it for what it is, because no-one in the media ever calls them on it.  They have a free pass with the media, and their electorate seems to have selective amnesia.

The Democarts made up this 'culture of corruption' claim, and the puppets in the media go make it mainstream.  I heard one of the television commentators yesterday explain that you can't judge the democrats based on this one incident (Jefferson), and they even brought up the republican 'culture of corruption' as a point of reminding people that it's republicans who are corrupt.  Sickening.

There are plenty of weak minded people out there who buy what they hear on the media as fact, and will base their opinions on 'supposedly' objective new sources.

Why don't we give news correspondants an (R) or a (D) next to their name to help viewers understand the slant they will be recieving.  That's what I call fairness in reporting...

You are right of course, the media is the biggest hurdle.

However, we have the truth at our side.

Good conservative candidates need to be proud of their records and point our truthfully without spin the Dems record of increasing government and raising taxes.

I use to hang my hat on 'being on the side of the truth' but truth itself is under attack in this country.  I think the opposition got smart and realized they couldn't win in the arena of ideas because they were NOT on the side of the truth.  The only way to win at that point is to change the definition and meaning of truth.  Once you've dissolved that, anything is possible.

There's been a slow and steady stream of 'everyone is right', and 'truth is in the eye of the beholder' taking over in our society.  It's through this decline in universal truths that things like global warming gain such a foothold.  After all, if someone on TV says it, it must be 'true'.

You are right of course neocon, but we need to speak with one voice.

The libs do a great job of staying on target.

If William Jefferson (D, LA) was a Republican, they would be pounding on that every day (Gonzales?).

We need to do the same, we need to point to their hypocrisy and their lies.  Most importantly we need to be proud of our conservatism, not apologetic for it.

We need to cast aside the RINOS and promote real conservatives.

I despise almost everything liberals stand for, but you're right about them staying on target and being tenacious.

It's been said that Americans in general are fairly conservative in their views, and I tend to believe that.  The big problem is that our "Republican" leadership really doesn't believe in conservative principles and are therefore spineless and unwilling to fight for those principles.  Just because you've got an (R) beside your name doesn't make you a conservative, that's for sure.  In many cases, I'd as soon vote for a southern Democrat against a northern Republican!!

I don't know if I'll live to see a viable mulitple party system, but I think big change is definately called for within our current 2-party system.  There's too much call for diversity within the "Big Tent" of republicanism.  All this means to me is a watered-down party filled to the brim with liberal-lites!!!

The two things I think Republican leaders lack is passion and confidence.  Confidence in their conservative ideals and the passion to convey a conservative message to the public.  They are so worried about appearing racist, sexist, homophobic, etc., that they lose their conviction.  I think this is largely a victory by the Liberal Media who have torn down our leadership with methodical precision.

It's imposible to fathom what a disservice the media has done to objectivity in this society.

What we need to do is go on the offense against Media, and help to level the playing field for our conservative leaders.  We need to refuse watching network news (I did this years ago), quit reading liberal newspapers (I never started), and throw our support behind fair and balanced news sources.

I understand that 'great' leaders like Reagan can overcome this bias by connecting with the American people, but that doesn't mean the bias doesn't still exist for everyone else in the republican party.  How often does a Reagan come along?  We need our rank & file republicans out their spreading the conservative message with conviction and passion.

The point has been made that the Liberals stay on topic. Not news. We don't know for sure but my guess is that a litany of 'talking points' is memo'd each morning to the key componants of the Anti-Bush, Hate America rank and file.

There's the stark and disappointing difference between the Dems and the Republicans.  The Dems have the ability to stay on topic and bore relentlessly like a termite after choice wood. Their heads down, eyes closed, 'damn the torpedoes...full speed ahead' determination bears out what we've been told for years:  If you repeat a lie often enough...it becomes accepted as the truth.

The Dems depend on that and while the few Republicans who choose to speak out against the false claims and outright lies of the Liars in Charge they are kept off balance by constantly having to defend themselves and their colleagues against the accusations and conviction by innuendo coming from the left. The Liberals are masters at keeping the opponants off balance by manipulation of the news.

Yes, it appears that the Democratic strategy is headed for a prattfall but do NOT underestimate their ability to land on thier collective feet.  These are manipulative, power hungry almost maniacal despots who care for nothing more than the aquisition and retention of power.  Power to Tax.  Power to control the minds of our children. Power to control the futures of every citizen of this great country by forcing more and more regulations upon us in the form of benefits.

The most dangerous animal is the one that has been severly wounded and is in fear for its' life.  The Democratic Party is that animal and it will maim, and perhaps even kill those who would either aid or euthanize it.

I doubt the dems have lost direction and focus as much as the Republican party has.
There are no strong conservative leaders. What there is in the way of conservative leadership seems to be a collection of spineless Rino's who only go on the offensive when someone in their ranks speaks and acts like a true conservative, which is becoming an increasingly rare occurance these days.

Republican voters throughout the blog sites and forums seem to be speaking of presidential candidates in terms of apologists...presenting the current front runners as at least being tough on terrorists, or likely to stem the tide of illegals, or at least a Republican in some aspects, or, better than Hillary.
And those who point to the flaws of Rino front runners are accused by "one issue" false conservatives, of being "one issue" voters, unwilling to accept values that are seriously flawed but at least better than "Hillarys."

Over the past half decade, conservatism has become something that many people are afraid to promote, and even more afraid to demand.
The dems have done a fine job of brow beating and shaming once proud Americans into a disorganised and leaderless band of fearful whiners and appeasers who, like the RNC, attack those among them who refuse to accept sub standard values.

I fully expect that 08 will see the end of the last remnant of the true Republican party, and an era of defeat of American values and constitutional freedoms.

I would like very much to be proven wrong.
But I do not believe that will happen.
