I also share in the belief that we should use the oil we have and slowly make the transition to other sources of energy. But to force something on someone, so quickly, is crazy and it will cause more problems for us in the near term. People have to be ready for change. It should not be forced.

Honestly, the people have been ready for change and have been accepting it for decades.  The problem is corrupt politics connected to special interest.  Look at all the bills that have been presented on Capitol Hill that have clauses in them that give money (taxpayer's dollars) to the very groups that go out and stop this kind of progress.  We are all supporting the hold back the in building new refineries, drilling in so called prohibited places (protection of speckled owls, polar bears, seals and much more) by allowing these lobbiest to put all this stuff in these bills...  Did you know, when a bill is presented to congress that you and I never get to know what all is attached to that bill?  It is presented, debated, voted on and in most cases approved without acknowledgement of added money that is going to be paid out of our pockets.  Individual people simply "SELL THEIR VOTE."  Isn't that similar to what the Ill. Gov. did?  "I WILL VOTE FOR THIS IF THIS IS IN THE BILL."

Sadly, you and I will just get to talk about it.  Never get to do anything about it.

I agree with corrupt politics. People are not ready to jump into change. It must be done in a manner that it doesnt hurt the economy. Your view "drilling in so called prohibited places (protection of speckled owls, polar bears, seals and much more)" may have some truth to it. I was refering to offshore drilling in my previous entry. And dont tell me that the whales and fishes are getting poisoned. I work offshore and know first hand that that is a myth spread by liberals.

Boone who has a lot of money and are willing to make more by investing in solutions to problems.  He could just go to a southern country, buy it and live there the rest of his life...

Bottom line - I couldn't agree more.  If Pickens can get richer supplying America with cheaper and cleaner energy, then the man deserves to get richer.

This explains it better than I can, why wind power won't work. T. Boone Pickens is talking through his hat. As Rush says, follow the money.
