A better solution than a wall

A better solution than a wall

Everyone is interested in building a wall to control the southern border more effectively, and while I agree in theory with that idea, a wall is not only expensive, but can be tunnelled under or climbed over...I have another suggestion.

Instead of a wall, dig a trench, roughly 100 yards across and 30 feet deep...fill it with a cheap tangle of razorwire.  Then build National Guard watchtowers with night vision equipment, etc. at regular intervals, and have the Guard on patrol the entire length of the border (fully armed).  Make regular runs with Air to surface radar planes.

The military has to train regularly anyway, why not do it on the border?

Sounds reasonable to me.   Probably cheaper to dig a hole than to build a wall.

The problem with a moat is that it will make it easier for the illegals to slingshot themselves over the border.

The real problem with the borders is a lack of leadership. The President obviously doesn't take border security seriously, nor do Congress and the Democrats. Its about time for the States to take control and tell the feds that until they can be effective that it will be a local matter.

The states have tried to fill the leadership vacuum where illegal immigration is concerned. Look at Hazleton, PA and Farmers Branch, TX for example. Both cases where local governments tried to do something about the problem and the courts/USG intervened to nullify the will of the local population.

The democrats see this as a means of expanding their voting demographic and the do nothing republicans are afraid to do anything about it for fear of being depicted as racist.

There has to be a solution to the problem but I am afraid it lies somewhere other than the current leadership of this country. Sad, very sad.

I heard today on Fox News that Arizona has made it illegal to hire an illegal. 1st offence is suspension of the business's license for 10 days. 2nd is permanent suspension.

One has to wonder how long before the courts (ACLU) step in and stop the new law. My guess is that it will not even take effect before an injunction.
