The left, this last week, felt they could get a leg up on the forthcoming report from the Field Commander in Iraq, General Petreaus and satisfy the Drive-by media which covered the hearings today.

They must take him for a fool, which he isn't, because he turned the tables on them with his opening statement. He headed them off at the pass with this:

PETRAEUS:  At the outset I would like to note that this is my testimony.  Although I have briefed my assessment and recommendations to my chain of command, I wrote this testimony myself.  It has not been cleared by, nor shared with, anyone in the Pentagon, the White House, or the Congress until it was just handed out.  As a bottom line up-front, the military objectives of the surge are in large measure being met.

A fool he is not and certainly not as dumb as they are!  This fine Officer fed them what they least expected showing his principles and character.  The Senate confirmed the General unanimously and these idiots, because they're in front of cameras, did their best to demean him.  Who were the fools in this little escapade?

A sound round of applause, please, for General Petreaus! Better yet how about a standing ovation?

He is one cool customer, totally unflummoxed by the EvilLeft Dem commentary thinly disguised as questioning.  And then there wasthe Evil Left's lack of curiosity vividly displayed as some Senators neveractually asked him a question, but instead launched their anti-American,anti-military screeds.

Tell me how much you love him.  As far as the Evil Left is concerned, theycan eat crow.  It is ever so crunch and tasty, especially after making afool of yourself.

I respect the man and I know he has a hard job but what I don't understand is how we're in Iraq if he doesn't think it'll make America safer?

Hindsight is always 20/20 but good lord this seems like something we shouldhave been sure of before jumping in the deep end.
