Any conservatives here have anything nice to say about Obama

All,

this is a bit of a fishing expedition.  I notice there are basically 2 kinds of people at this forum - those who use reasonable discussion to try to pursuade others (check out posts by DeeperThought) and those who use the forum to do hit jobs (check out posts by Calypso Jones).  Personally, I find the hit jobs somewhat amusing but ultimately meaningless because they don't pursuade anyone of anything - they are just to polarized and offensive.

So...  I'm wondering if any conservatives that use this forum have anything positive to say about Obama?  I'll start off by saying something positive about McCain.

McCain has been one of my favorite senators for many years.  You have to love someone who can say "I've looked into the eyes of Putin and all I see are the letters K.G.B."  How refreshing.  I also loved to see him call Jerry Falwell an "agent of intolerance" - for 2 reasons.  One, I think Jerry Falwell IS an agent of intolerance.  Two, and more importantly, this kind of comment goes against most in his own party - meaning he had the balls to say what he believed.  I also appreciate the fact that he has been able to work with Democrats in the past on important legislation.

There, I said it.  Anyone have anything to say about Obama?  I'd argue that if you can't say something sincere, your other opinions must be pretty partisan/biased.

I'd like to say I am embarrassed to be an American while the world knows he belonged to a ultra racist whitey hating church. Is this what the demoRAT party is down to ?  No wonder the world opinion of the US is so low, it's because of the left trash talking the country.

Does that mean if we can't say something nice about Hitler or Karl Marx that we are partisan and biased?  How about Hugo Chavez or Sal Alinsky?  Would that mean if we can't say something nice about them, we are partisan and biased?

Well, here's a couple of things that are positive about Obama:

1.  He has produced two darling children.

But he is sending them to a Communist school in Illinois.

2.  He reads a speech real nice.

But he can't talk without using Uhs without a teleprompter.

3.  He's a nice looking man, wears a suit well.

But is an elitist and thinks people in PA and small towns are bitter people clinging to their guns and bibles.

I'm sorry but I cannot come up with anything regarding his ideology or his agenda that I believe is good.  Call me what you will...

Um,... yeah ..... uh, .... I guess I'm not understanding what you mean by "sincere".  Lot's of folks here have said lots of things about Obama, and I think they were all sincere in their opinions.

If, by some unususal quirk of the English language, you mean that we should try to say something nice about Obama; I'll try.

About the best thing that I can say about the man is that it's possible, ... just possible ..., that he's not as bad a human being as we Conservatives think, but that he's actually more of a bumbling doofus being used as a tool by more insidious minds.

How's that?

Also, there's a long-standing proverb that "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions."

I think that this proverb means more than you may think it means.

It means that intending to help people while doing acts that cause suffering is still, ultimately, causing suffering.

It means that, before acting, someone with good intent must have the wisdom and intelligence to understand the consequences of their actions in order to actually DO good, instead of just meaning to do good.

Yes, that's what it would mean - because clearly someone who is thinking rationally can say *one* nice thing about Obama.

OK - you're right - none of these count - they are all "back-handed compliments".

You don't have to limit yourself to his ideology or his agenda.  You can look at the legislation he's helped pass - or just his personal life.  You can't find a *single* positive thing to say about him?
